So as Soon as Toshiba Officially announces the death of H-DuD, I presume that Uni and Para are at complete liberty to announce any damn Blu thing they want, right? They no longer have to pay Tosh any respect or aid them in saving face, right?

C'mon Official word!!!

Dr.Steve that is correct. If Toshiba does in fact announce they are pulling out of the High Def war then both Uni and Paramount are no longer contractually obligated to HDDVD.

Many have said that the contracts are up anyways, but even as far as saving face - it's a moot point after an Official announcement - so no need to play along any more.

Once upon a time, there was a big bad red disc monster. it wanted to enslave the world with its inferior coding and lack of space. It fooled many, save those who were well informed on Blu-Ray.com The Big Blu Giant (BBG) came and gathered followers. With more followers it toppled the big red monster and prevailed. The end.

Comment on media reports on HD DVD

The media reported that Toshiba will discontinue its HD DVD business. Toshiba has not made any announcement concerning this. Although Toshiba is currently assessing its business strategies, no decision has been made at this moment.

I don't expect anything today, but tomorrow seems like a likely case. Even CNN is saying that insiders have mentioned that a decision could be made as early as Tuesday.

It needs to be done already, there is nothing left to evaluate. It's over, they played a good game, but lost so let's move on with some great releases on Blu from all studios.

That's what I'm strongly suspecting myself.

Again, certainly by the end of the week I expect this to all be over and done with.

What a let down we're in for if Toshiba decide to keep going!!

It's like that Monty Python sketch from the Holy Grail where the knight gets his arms and legs chopped off but says it's just a flesh wound and wants to keep fighting!!
