Interesting. 21 of the 28 films in that list are animated, and one of the 7 that isn't is a documentary about the sea. Here's hoping that there are additional titles added that aren't animated. Regardless, I'll take what I can get next year

On that note, has anyone else noticed there are 3 x 3d titles with a December 21st, 2018 release date? Pretty cool. Early Christmas for 3d fans with Bumblebee, Alita and Aquaman all coming to theatres on the same day

While I am ecstatic to see so many titles listed I fear it does not necessarily mean they will find their way to the home market ie Trolls & Ferdinand etc

I love animation so my tops picks are The Secret Life of Pets 2, How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World and The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part. Those would be day one preorders for me. I am not as interested in the Disney remakes.

Godzilla 2 3D and Star Wars IX 3D with JJ Abrams in charge again (he's a fan of stronger 3D conversions from what I've seen so far) both have my interest. And hopefully some of the other action, adventure, hero movies in 3D too. And of course the next Avengers Infinity War 2 3D.

Actually I hate that; the competition for screens may reduce the amount of 3D screenings available. I want to see Bumblebee and Alita, but I'm torn about which to see first. I don't think either of them will get the Imax 3D treatment.

The way things have become, if you don't catch a 3D screening in the first week, you may be out of luck.

I wish they would spread them around better. There are weeks where I have the time but there's nothing to see.

Having so few live action movies is a real concern. Particularly if those that are, are superhero movies. Where are the 3D movies for the over 40 demographic?

We should get the new (James Cameron produced) Terminator film too: http://collider.com/terminator-reboo...november-2019/

Alita's getting the IMAX 3D treatment. Bumblebee is just digital 3D.

That's what I'm seeing from the trailers.

Yeah, I think Alita and Aquaman will split the IMAX screens, and Bumblebee will just be regular 3D. With 3 releases like that the same week, something has to get left out.

Mostly sequels or remakes/reboots. I guess it's what pays the bills.

At least in previous years from Holywood we had at least one live action, non-sequel/non-reboot:

2009 - Avatar
2010 - The Hole, Cave Of Forgotten Dreams
2011 - Hugo, Pina, TT3D
2012 - Life of Pi
2013 - The Great Gatsby, Gravity, T.S. Spivet
2014 - Goodbye to Language, Edge Of Tomorrow, Exodus
2015 - Mad Max, Everest, The Walk, The Martian, In the heart of the sea
2016 - Billy Lynn
2017 - nothing
2018 - Ready Player One, Alpha, Alita, They Shall Not Grow Old, Mortal Engines
2019 - nothing??

It’s early days though. Let’s be hopeful.

That list is not finished. Don't sweat it. Not everything is announced and finalized as far in advance as animation and franchise sequel projects.

A teaser trailer for Dumbo was previewed before the Ant-Man and the Wasp IMAX Laser screening. High-Medium to Strong 3-D was displayed. Hopefully, this level of 3-D strength will be present in the final product.

There'll be another Ben Stassen movie The Queen's Corgi https://variety.com/2018/film/global...ve-1202840262/.
Being that Hotel Transylvania 3 was a#1 box office maybe a US release? (I was the only one in the theatre for 3D Wild Life in Oaks PA)

What is a shame is that they are only doing sci-fi movies and animated movies in 3D and some Disney remakes. I think genres like horror and epic and adventure all could have had some great 3D, but now we are really reduced to 2 categories overall.

Every now and then we'll get The Walk 3D, Hugo 3D or even a foreign 3D film in US theaters to check out for a short time, as with the recent Alpha 3D.
But I agree, more varieties of 3D films would be welcome more often.

The super hero films from Marvel have some of the strongest 3D in theaters at this time with Marvel's recent streak of impressive 3D conversions.

Good to hear Dumbo will have some potentially stronger 3D as with 2018's Nutcracker 3D from the look of the strong 3D trailer. Of course here's hoping they reach blu ray 3D overseas since it seems Disney has overlooked the 3D fans in the US.

Its not only Disney that has been overlooking 3D BD in the US, other studios too. I don't really see the fascination of 4k in the home.

You donít see the fascination with the best possible picture quality at home? Okay...blu-rays are flat and bland in comparison. I prefer 3D for the titles that have it but Iím not going to settle for a worse product (blu-ray) when the technology for 4K/HDR exists.
