BTW I am still on my first main HT 4K TV which is a Sony XBR-65X900E 65-inch 4K with HDR. Honestly I still love it and I kinda hoped I could get by with it for a few more years but going 65 to 85 would be a pretty special life experience! I am so tempted!

Here's a few of the advantages of Sony's flagship X950H 4K HDR LCD/LED TV vs. the very nice X900H:

- The X950H is 50% brighter than the X900H

- The X950H has more local dimming zones and more LEDs than the X900H

- The X950H has Sony's X1 Ultimate processor vs the X900H with the X1 processor

- The X950H has Sony's anti glare coating and the X-Wide viewing feature

The X950H sure does sound good, is it in another league entirely or is it more like a sooped up X900H?

At what point will it be safe to say that 50% more brightness is 50% more brightness than ~99% of us would have a use for?

Or will HDTVs continue getting brighter until the end of time?

The ability for the tv to get brighter can mean better HDR. As good as the X950H is, if I remember correctly it doesn't have HDMI 2.1 and a ATSC 3.0 tuner like the X900H has.

Correct ^ and thanks for adding the extra benefits of the X900H!

Higher peak luminance also helps when viewing in high ambient light, but the picture enhancement for HDR is one of my favorite advantages of the X950H.

I totally realize this and I think many folks with 4K set-ups also realize the same thing. My question is, when does the brightness war end? I mean it seems to me that "brightness" seems to have been a strong selling point for 4K TVs as long as I can remember. I mean TVs cannot just get brighter every year.

Yeah I am just joking^^ but I can't help it I want the brightest TV that my money can buy and I am not alone, the TV manufacturers have ingrained it in our brains.

In any case thanks guys!^^ You made me put a little more thought into upgrading my perfectly good performing 2017 4K TV.
[Show spoiler]Which BTW replaced my first 1080p HDTV, a professionally calibrated Pioneer Elite Plasma, of which I got a very solid 7.5-8 years of use out of it before I sold it for $500 .Yeah it was ~$5500 when new but still I was very happy to get $500 for it. BTW I was nervous about the Sony X900E fulling such big shoes but it has done a wonderful job! If only it were a tad bigger and brighter, oh well.

Just ~2 days ago I was set on getting an 85" X900H and now I am thinking I will just stash away a few bucks and put off the upgrade. Both me and my wallet are grateful, thanks again guys.

Picked up a Costco 85" X90CH. The 5 year warranty + 2 years from buying with card tipped me over the edge. Put her on a Monoprice fireplace mount and very nice. Have my front speakers all relocated but needed to reorient the room so will probably be another week or two before I get the surrounds and rears back up. Added an X800M2 since PS5 is still scarce and my PS4 keeps showing the WLOD.

Is anyone else having issues with the X900H and audio delay after the latest firmware update. I'm having issues with both my 4K player and my cable box, I've never had these issues before until the latest firmware update.

I haven't had any issues. Honestly the TV was pretty buggy at first when I got it around Black Friday (wi-fi would drop out or it would get stuck in a certain app) requiring a hard reset but in the last few months I don't recall having any issues.
