The majority stay sealed.

However I opened 2nd copies of Indy 4, TDK and Watchmen.

And I made the mistake of opening my Wanted UK steel... I blame the wife.

I open the ones I watch. As long as I don't watch them, I deem it unnecessary to open them. Which has proven to be a good idea as I've sold some I never opened for a better price.

Well, I have to say that keeping them sealed is by far the craziest thing I have ever heard in my life and anyone who would do such a thing needs to be on medication for sure ............

Now where is that pill bottle

I keep them sealed as to me that means they are pristine and perfect. I receive them, inspect them for anything issues, and then seal them in a poly sleeve forever.

It is difficult, but I do it.

Once inawhile I will receive a badly damaged one from a retailer like amazon and once the cost refunded, I will open a nice bottle of wine, light some candles, put on some soft romantic music, and after a little small talk I will slowly reach over and start to remove ........

Damn it, where are those pills ......

the only SBs that I don't open are those that I already have a copy of and am going to trade or sell...

I find it very difficult selling a SB though, unless I have a copy myself or have another 1 ordered...

sometimes, depending on the rarity of the SB, you never can tell when/if you will come across another 1

I guess that's the a pretty good sign of an addiction, huh?

Yep I open mine.

Very surprised so many of us do this actually looking at the poll results so far.

I open all mine and inspect them, then put them in a plastic sleeve bag. Am thinking of getting a small binder to put the movies in though so I won't have to keep opening the Steelbook to watch the movie. Buying the movie seperate is too expensive and a waste of money since there's no point of paying for it twice.

I thought that there were more of us that actually open them, but I am surprised at the numbers as well. I figured there would be more people that keep 'em sealed than what is up so far.

NEVER... I only by the steelbooks as a collector.

I buy the movies later on down the road used for $10 or so, or in a boxset if I wait long enough.

I voted some.

When I got my first SB, Iron Man FS, I still didn't realize the trading value that these babies hold, espescially the sealed ones, so I opened it up, along with Indy 4.

Now that I'm better educated, thanks to our vocal OCD's , I keep the opening to a bare minimum. The last Steels that I carefully unwrapped were:

Watchmen b/c I had a hunch that the market would be flooded with them.
Highlander & Crouching tiger b/c I wanted to watch them, and they're not available in Canada, so what the hell!
A whack of MM SB's from Amazon.de last mth because they were either damaged or re-sealed! (like I wouldn't notice this Amazon.. tsk, tsk)

I do however always get a second, sealed copy of my opened Steels (with the exception of John Rambo, I've still avoided that) just so I feel better about myself.. lol

For the record - Tiger, Crash, I hate you guys! Today my Pulp Fiction and Kill Bills were finally handed to me and I found myself wondering 'do I really want to unseal those SBs?' I mean, wtf guys?

Btw, I did unseal them. Initially it hurt me, but then, the feel of the 'naked' Steelbook made it all worth while

I am so disappointed as I could feel your presence on the dark side, although only for a fleeting moment. I will have to try harder next time

Cheers

Your a Jedi master, the force is strong with you. Your hearth is pure you might don't get trapped on the dark side.

Cheers,
Gui.

Default Do you keep your Steelbooks sealed or do you open them?

I really want to open my Disney and Pixar steelbooks, but I'm afraid I'll accidentally scratch them later on and ruin the art. Are they pretty durable and scratch resistant?
