Default getting rid of comics

after some thinking ive decided i need to take my moderate collection of about 10 long boxes and either giving away most of them or just tossing some out. my goal is to get down to 4 long boxes at most. they take up so much room and some of the boxes i have havent been opened in a few years. i would be getting rid of mostly stuff from the last 5 to 10 years that i have no interest in reading again.

has anyone done this before? i have issues with collecting things and need to make some headway on junk that just takes up space. i have a few ideas with what to do with them.

1. take them to a good will or childrens hospital and leave them.

2. take them back to the comic shop and ask if they want them to give away to customers or do somthing with them.

3. just throw them away cause im lazy. lol

There's always eBay. Gather a bunch together and sell them as Lots. DC Lot. Marvel Lot. Archie Lot. ETC. Or put them together by story lines like a Civil War Lot. Secret Wars Lot.

If you're looking to get a tax deduction for tax season - Try giving them to Collectibles With Causes. Might get a better price than just giving to Salvation Army or Goodwill.

Or if you just want to get rid of them period - I'll give you my FedEx account number! Send them to me!!!!!!!!

Put them on Craigslist and see if anyone will come and pick them up. There are others that would like to read them before they are pulped.

I for one encourage the route of a childrens hospital, the kids would love it and it'll make you feel good. Just make sure that they are age appropriate. BTW you can get a tax write off on them when you donate.

Craigslist....I sold my entire collection about 10 long boxes and 8 short to a collector/ dealer off of there...just list more than what you think they are worth because they will break you down.

I think Newbury comics will take them.

They had a bunch of boxes out on Free Comic Book day that they said were donated.

Donation to local hospitals, if age appropriate.

Otherwise, Half Priced Books will buy them or Craigslist.

I got like 23 longboxes I'd love to unload, you got any idea what FedEx will cost if I were to send them to you?

Someday I'll probably sort through them and do the children's hospital thing.

Or you could give a vague list of what you've got and split'em up for all your buddies here

Well it is almost entirely stuff I bought after my navy years and before I stopped buying a couple of years ago, so Marvel & DC in the era of 96 - 2008 or so.

There's a few comics on my wish list from that time period. Splitting them up amongst your very good friends here on the forum would probably gain you eternal gratitude on our parts.

Just for the heck of it, I did some quick math - A long box filled with comics usually weighs about 42-45 pounds. Say Ground shipping is $25 to $30 per box. x23 boxes.

I should just come pick them up. I'll help you sort 'em out.

I worked at Half Price Books for 7 years, I would not take them there lol.

Most comic shops (atleast that i have dealt with) won't even take donations, and the ones that do around here end up saying thanks and putting them in their back issue bins.

Got any Spidey?

I can think of many potential titles of personal interest

I'm a DC guy if that narrows it down
