Default Vertigo's LUCIFER

I consider Gaiman's SANDMAN to easily be in my top ten favorite comic stories. I've heard good things about the LUCIFER spinoff series. I don't like to start a series like this (read: finite self contained) unless I own the entire run. I went ahead and picked up the first trade on the cheap but I wanted to solicit some opinions before I pursued the rest. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Sandman is my favorite comic run of all time and Lucifer is my favorite of the spin offs from it by far. As long as you don't expect it to reach the heights of Gaiman's Sandman, I don't think you will be disappointed.

I haven't read any of the spin-offs except for the two Death minis (though I wouldn't really call them spin-offs) and a few issues of House of Secrets. I don't think I've read much of Mike Carey's stuff, either. Idk, I really liked Gaiman's Lucifer as a character so that's why I'm interested I suppose.
