Yes and NO. I only open movies I have not seen (which is very few).

I say do what you want because it's your money

I open them because, at the end of the day, I buy these movies to watch them - the Steelbook case is just a nice little collectible :P

The only one I have not yet opened is the BB Thor 2 Steelbook, mainly because I just haven't had an urge to watch it. Not a fan of the movie but I want the collection that BB is launching with Marvel movie Steelbooks.

I will open them eventually, I don't always open them when they arrive, but I buy them with the intention of watching the films so they will all get opened at some point in the future.

I normally don't open mine. Some I do. With that in mind is the Smallville: Season 8 metal slipcase edition rare enough that it will be worth more money some day if I leave it sealed as opposed to open, or it won't really matter? I'm a little behind on watching the series.

It's your steelbook. Do what you want with it.

I used to try and be one of those sealed collectors but it isn't for me, especially with movies. I've been sticking to buying one copy of a movie instead of multiples for whatever special release comes out and I've been happier because of it.

The only reason I'd see to never open a steelbook is if you were that paranoid about condition and then I'd recommend the protective sleeves which is what I do.

I collect steels, not boxes wrapped in cellophane. They are made to be opened and enjoyed.

Why would you give someone a gift they can't get enjoyment from.

Put your friendship to the test. Open it.

Vanilla US releases get opened to watch. Foreign specialty releases stay sealed.

If he didn't want it to be opened, he should have kept it.

I open mine because my mentality for anything is if I'm not going to open it, I might as well leave it at the store and not buy it in the first place... then I'd be a lot richer.

I open when I'm ready to watch. Still have many of my steels sealed. The only one I can say I'm hesitant to open cause it looks to pretty is The Last Samurai I got from Amazon.jp.

I do the same - they stay sealed until I am ready to watch them. I do the same with video games and they stay sealed until I am about to play them. That way if I regret buying a release and decide to sell it unwatched, I can get a little extra for it.

This is my method as well. Some steelbooks I keep sealed but only if it's a duplicate copy or different versions of the same movie. Like I've got several different versions of Captain America and GOTG but I typically open at least one version. Sometimes I'll look for used/opened steelbooks here in the trading forum or on ebay that I would have wanted to open up anyways and they are usually less expensive that way.

I open & watch all my steels since that's what buying movies is for, watching them at home. This way I get to collect a steel I like & enjoy the movie

Did you try asking the steelbook what it wants?

The majority yes because when I buy them I want to watch them. Most stay sealed until I go to watch them, then they get opened.
On the other hand, I do have a few that will remain sealed because I've double dipped for the steel and kept the opened amaray so there's no need to open them. They are mainly just for collection purposes

Yes, I do. After all, what I have is a movie.
