I've checked all amazon sites (fr, uk, com, de...), all ebays and price minister. No sign of the steelbook version only the regular blu rays that we can find in french stores ! Believe me i'm french so amazon.fr is my territory mate :-)

Yeah weird i saw that, the database here says steelbook, but the link to Amazon.fr then shows what looks like the regular amaray and doesn't say steelbook anywhere. Ill keep an eye out though, you never know.

Thanks I already know these lists. What I really want to do here is a list of really hard or impossible to find steelbooks and not the most expensive ones or low print runs. I don't know the print run for the TF1 edition steelbook of Pulp fiction but now you can't find it anywhere (neither in store when i bought it years ago for a really cheap price (9,99 euros) nor on the web). Of course i will use the lists you mention and look the ones that are really hard to find but maybe you dear steelbook crazies have your own opinion. So the really grail list to me will be with only hard or impossible to find. In the list you gave me I see again the John Rambo amazon.de which can be found on eBay, price minister and also on few amazon sites ! So really not hard to find. Expensive yes, rare no :-)

The Thing JP version is I believe the same as the Play.com uk one right ? It is a hard one to find (only on amazon.uk and .com). I got the uk version few years ago on amazon.uk for a great price (i think it was around 15 or 20 euros).
It will definitely be on my future list but i don't know if the amazon.jp mention is needed since the play.com exclusive is really rare too and has been sold out for a long time now.

Yeah i have the UK Universal 100th anniversary one, i just really like the jp releases, and The Thing is among my top 2 or 3 favorite films so i like to get what releases i can for this. They definitely are hard to find.

My favorite Movies are Pulp fiction and The thing but the japanese version is the same as the uk one for the Carpenter one. Anyway so far we have :

Pulp fiction TF1 édition
Xmen origins wolverine Fnac exclusive
The thing both JP and UK versions
Shutter Island Fnac exclusive with booklet
Flammen og citronen
Pandorum

I believe the backart on the jp The Thing is vertical instead of horizontal, like the UK release. Yes, they have the same art, but with my experience with jp steels, they tend to be made differently then their counterparts from other countries. Not always, but definitely sometimes and its worth it to me anyway. Just so long as i dont have to mortage the house or something to get it. Great job too, this is a great thread.

I'm a die hard fan of big John's movies and i wish many more steelbooks like The thing or Big trouble in little china are made. Like They live, Prince of darness or in the mouth of Madness. But i'm going somewhere else sorry :-).

I will go back to the lists we have to see what are the hard ones to get in there and try to establish an order. To separate the ones that are close i will add then the print runs and then the price they are sold on sites like eBay or amazon(s).

Well a 4000 print run isnt really that limited. Theres many more releases with much less. Lone Survivor jp release is still available on Amazon through 3rd party sellers for not much more than Amazon charged for the pre-order. Time will more than likely render this one rare, but not yet.

You are right. I can't find it anywhere, not even on eBay or amazon. Are you sure it is still sold on amazon ? I checked amazon.uk, com and fr and no sign of the JP steelbook just the others ones.

So it will be part of the list of the hard one to find.

Again, the print run is not the number one factor here. It will be taken into account to order the ones that will hit the list. Thanks for your help guys. Keep coming with those. I will share my results when i have at least 10 to 15 sure grail ones.

To make the list I'd say any titles should be utterly impossible to find for at least a year, because at any given moment there are countless titles that can't be found. They'll come in and out of existence every so often. Perhaps you could make different tiers on your list.
