Default Graphic Novels - Recommend / Discuss!

Some of you are graphic novel readers out there and I'd like to see what you guys read and recommend as well.

Lately, I've been reading: The Astounding Wolf-man (written by Robert Kirkman of the Walking Dead series)

The series so far is good, it's more superhero in tone...the stories are well written and the art is pleasing to the eye. Recommended for those looking for a Werewolf comic. The series is done however...there will be a 4th and final Trade Paperback coming out this month.

I might have to give that one a try. Still haven't started The Walking Dead yet... Been a little too busy lately.

Also, there's something to be said for a story with an actual ending. I was given the first 5 Bleach manga's and from what I've seen that thing goes on forever. I'm debating just waiting for them to put out the complete set(I believe it has 44 volumes right now) before I get really into it. Besides, TWD has my interest now when things slow down a bit.

Rob - You should really sit down and read the first Trade of Walking Dead. It probably won't take more than 30 minutes, but it'll be worth it...especially since you're a fan of the show.

I like ones that end as well. After Wolf-man, I'll be starting up with Y The Last Man.

Preacher is one I haven't read yet. I did read a sample in the Vertigo Sampler Trade a while ago. Garth Enis is the author, who also wrote my favorite set of Punisher Stories in the first TP. Good stuff.

Why not with the best?

Watchmen

Some other good ones.

V For Vendetta
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns
Batman: The Killing Joke
300
From Hell

I've not read a lot, and I'm sure there are tons more great stories out there. Also there are quite a few members here who are really into them that will probably chime in with some good/better choices.

Like Rob said, if you want to start with a classic novel, checkout:

The Watchmen
The Dark Knight Returns (F. Miller)

The other series I recommend are:

The Sandman
Walking Dead

I'm not going to flood you with recommendations, this is a good place to start! Btw...both the Watchmen and Dark Knight Returns are cheap at amazon.

I second this one. A friend recommended this to me and I brushed it off thinking it would be dumb. Was I ever wrong. I could not put it down. I completely finished it in one afternoon. Before reading this I had no idea graphic novels could be this good.

SonOfArathorn, can you recommend anything else similar to this?

How is Transmetropolitan?

Jeff Smith's "RASL" is fantastic! Very different from "Bone".

Superman for All Seasons is great despite people complaining over the artwork, and the new Batman & Robin from Grant Morrison is pretty damn awesome

Let us know which you picked out and how you liked it. I'll be diving into vol 3 of the Wolf-Man this weekend.
