Looks like I'm going to play it safe and start with Watchmen. I'll let you all know what I think when I get finished.

Not a huge fan of graphic novels, but I've been reading a couple lately. The next one I'll read is Y: The Last Man

The Walking Dead - Started reading it after watching the show!

I would definitely recommend the Locke & Key series by Joe Hill:

My favorite comic is Preacher hands down but Y: The Last Man comes close. A few comics I would recommend that have not yet been recommended are Hellblazer, Maus and A Contract with God Trilogy.*

Oh and I forgot to mention Hack/Slash for those who are more into info indie comics.

I don't think there is enough interest, especially since this sub-forum just got created. I think as things progress over time, possibly.

Well, I just got Volume 4 of the Astounding Wolf-Man in the mail. The final installment of the series. Can't wait to check it out.

I read Watchmen, in preparation for the movie. I also read a Batman one, maybe 5 to 10 years ago, but don't recall which one it was. I remember enjoying it!

Say....has there ever been any thought given to the possibility of a fully seperate "Comics" area, here in the Entertainment section of the forum (right next to Books/e-Books, natch!)? I bet it would do pretty well here.
I love mark millar, and have been meaning to check out the ultimates.

a separate comics thread would be nice

Finished reading Y: The Last Man. Man that was a fun ride. I liked the ending as well.

Are there any other comic book series similar to this?

Just picked up the Age Of Reptiles Omnibus by Ricardo Delgado, published by Dark Horse. I can't recommend it highly enough if you enjoy dinosaurs/prehistoric animals!

The strories are told without narration, and without humans (no Jurassic Park stuff)...just pure dinosaur stories. Here's a splash-page sample:

Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth by Grant Morrison.

One of my favourite novels in any form. I think it's absolutely fantastic. The concept of Batman being as insane as his villains has since been done to death, really, but I think the story is fascinating and Dave McKean's art is beautiful to look at.

I've been working my through the trade collections of "The Boys" by Garth Ennis. I loved his work on "Preacher" and "The Punisher," and have developed a quick addiction to this series as well. It's a terrific, sick, twisted anti-superhero book that is just loads of fun.

After I get caught up on that one, I'm planning on checking out "DMZ," or getting back into "Y: The Last Man." I had read the first few volumes of "Y" but fell out comics for a while.

'Old Man Logan' was a pretty good book. Mark Millar sure can write.

Reading another Mark Millar story 'The Ultimates' and its pretty damn good so far, nearly done vol.1. This is coming from a hard core DC fan.

Hoping this is the inspiration for the new Avengers movie they are doing.

Just came across this. I hope This project is started soon and i hope and pray that they treat it differently than the Twilight series! Please no more 20-something catwalk models and cut back on the CGI Matrix effects! Oh and it's a pretty good novel too.

Man I really want this to happen. Haven't been this excited about a movie in a very long time!

Just picked up:

So far, it's great. Check it out if you're looking for something original. It's about a detective who chews on his victims to get psychic abilities to track crimes.

I also got the first 5 volumes this week, and devoured them. I am nearly done with volume 5.

Comixology had the first 5 on sale for $4.99 each (50% off!), so I couldn't pass that up. I can't decide if I want to buy the rest or wait for them to go on sale too.
