Just started Volume 4 of The Walking Dead. Pretty intense stuff and I love it. I hope I'm not spoiling myself too much for what's to come in Season 2 of the show. At least both the comics and the TV show are a little different.

Yeah, I know it's a lame excuse but its true! Trying to catch up on new blu's that I've missed or been waiting on. Looks like I have some disney blurays to buy.

Also,

Just picked up Chew VOL 5. Can't wait!

Have you reached the governor story arc? can't remember when TP it was.

I just got done reading the best graphic novel I've ever read. Granted I've not read too many, but still, I read it straight through without getting out of my seat. First time ever. Superman: Earth One.

An incredible story with a great interweaving of Clark/Superman's relationships and how they've affected who he's become. It shows why he's doing what he does. Brilliant.

And I can't understate Shane Davis's art. After this, he's become my favorite comic book artist. Loved it. It felt like I was reading a movie. The whole flashback to pertinent conversations thing was done incredibly well. I really hope Man of Steel takes some pointers from this thing.

That is a great book I can not wait for Volume 2. You might also then like Batman Earth one.

Just stumbled on this thread. I'm sure I'm in the minority but I found Watchmen as extremely boring and overrated. I've tried reading it prolly 6-7 times now, once every few years to see if my opinion changed but so far it hasn't. I recommend Walking Dead, Preacher, Y The Last Man, the Dark Knight Returns and last but not least Strangers in Paradise if you're looking non superhero.

I am in the same boat with you about watchmen. But I also didn't like the dark knight returns.

Highly, highly recommend The Amazing Spider-Man: Kraven's Last Hunt. It's a collection of six issues.

It's dark and gritty and violent and awesome. You can buy the reprint collection on Amazon for like $9. Best Spider-Man story arc I've read.

Marvel's Marvels. Great book from a photographer's point of view of important points in Marvel history. Also one of Alex Ross's first works.

I think there is a TPB collection of the four issues/volumes of The Golden Age. One of my favorite DC Elseworlds from back in the day.

I'm jumping very late on the graphic novel bandwagon. I am going to get the Walking Dead ones because the images I've seen look amazing.

I tried reading Watchmen but felt it overwhelming with text everywhere, but it does look great.

My question is for the Batman one's. Batman The Killing Joke and The Dark Knight Returns. Do I need to read any other's before enjoying these or can they be enjoyed on their own?

The two you mentioned can be read as stand alone. Also look at 300 and The Crow.
