I am starting to collect classic comics, but all I have so far is:

The Amazing Spider-Man #41 "The Horns of the Rhino" from October 1966 (very good condition)

I love drawing (and comics) but I don't own many movies inspired by comics, other than Watchmen...dunno why

"Aw come on! Who doesn't like the feeling of a real book in their hands?" - Beast (Wolverine and the X-Men)

I've been avidly exploring the worlds of X-Men since last April. I'd seen a lot of 'other media' adaptations of comics before, but I thought it time to see for myself what the original story was.

I've read Uncanny and Legacy up to just before the arrival of Onslaught. I've also read about half of Age of Apocalypse, Secret Wars 1-2 (in Omnibus form), various intertwining eps of New Mutants, X-Factor, X-Force, and Wolverine. My current reading plan consists of many of these titles from 1963 to the present day; according my spreadsheet I'm 25.7% of the way there.

My favorite X-Men run was the Jim Lee

i had a collection which was started in the late 80's. had pretty much everything M. Linsner did including trading cards and covers. had johnny the homicidal maniac too. lots and lots of spiderman, cloak and dagger, all of the punisher's series, wolverine mini series. moon knight. 'nam. so many i cant remember them all. all was lost in a fire along with a toy collection, and vinyl in 2001. never went back. too much was lost . ive only recently within the last 2 yrs got back into vinyl. few toys survived that were mib. so now my son plays with them. except for evil ernie, lady death and mcfarlane toys.

I'm still a huge fan of Linsner. I have a large collection of his comics, trade paperbacks, framed posters, lithographs, prints, statues, figures, cards and misc other stuff. A lot of the stuff is very hard to find and most of it's signed too.

I gather that subscriptions don't include one-shots and side stories. That's why I generally buy collected editions (PBs and Hardbound books) for my comics.

I wish companies like Marvel and DC would have an inexpensive subscription model for the Ipad. Near as I can tell though, they are looking for the same as cover price, and don't have the total line available. I could do better by mail order.

Yes, there are just a few essential things you would need to pick up like civil war or the individual branch offs for your favorite heroes etc. For DC I would recommend reading the Blackest Night/Brightest Day

ditto, or you can wikipedia, Marvel and DC have pretty good info on the websites. Green Lantern Corp are really taking the reigns of the DC universe as of now (read Blackest night) And Marvel is a littleall over the place but its a ton of fun!

For you comic book fans does any one have any suggestions on where to start if I wanted to start reading Green Lantern or The Flash? Want to start getting back into comics and want to start with these 2 heroes.

Thanks

I would recommend the Sinestro Wars and Blackest Night for Green Lantern then Brightest Day, not really sure about Flash though.
