funny enough, I searched for this thread and expected it to be years old, not in its genesis. I collect most in tpb but I do have some older runs going back to when I was a kid and a few from my Dad's youth. Most are packed away but I'll try to get a picture taken.

Quite cool seeing a thread on comic books here on Blu-ray.com. I don't have nearly as many comics as I used to, never really got into collecting silver/gold but I did have a near-mint copy of Fantastic Four #48 as well as Silver Surfer #1-4 but sold them nearly 20 years ago. I do have some cool stuff though, will try and post some photos as well.

I never really collected comics growing up because my brother did and I would just read his if I felt the urge.

It wasn't until Dreamwave (RIP ) picked up Transformers that I got at all into it, and even then, those titles were the only ones I got (though I picked up a ton of variant covers each month). Since it moved to IDW I slacked off (not intentionally), though I have picked up all the hardcover collections to catch up on the collection.

A really small collection, I only have Amazing Spider-Man issues. I don't have any old issues. My oldest issue is Amazing Spider-Man 154. I do, however, have Amazing Spider-Man Masterworks #1 which are reprints of issues #1-10. Also have Kraven's Last Hunt reprints. The top 4 comics were random gifts. A Batman issue, Superman Trinity issue and two other Spider-Man issues that are based on the animated series.

[Show spoiler]

I have...

* Web of Spider-Man 1-110
* Amazing Spider-Man 245-300 (Only missing a few issues here and there)
* Batman: Complete Knightfall, Knightquest and Knightsend
* Superman: Complete Death and Return issues
* Random Spawn issues and Shadowhawk issues.

I don't collect comics with UPC codes, so none of mine have UPC codes unless they are mid-90's comics since all of those have them.

All are NM or better, but not CGC graded. Those are ridiculously expensive.

Over the years I sold most of the comics that I a massed while working for the distributor, especially the variants, but I have some stuff saved. I have a complete run of Amazing Spider-Man #298-$328 all signed by McFarlane his store he used to have here was on my delivery route when I was doing deliveries so he would sign all my stuff when I would come in. Super nice guy.

One of my gems is a first printing set of Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns mini-series picking them up when they were first released. In the early 90's when Dark Horse was putting on conventions, I went down for work and Frank Miller was there unofficially but wasn't signing, just was "there" at the show talking with creator friends of his and the publisher of Dark Horse asked me if I wanted to meet him. I had my four issues with me since Klaus Janson was there and I was having him sign them, so when I was introduced to Frank, he saw them in my hand and asked me if I wanted him to sign them and I know everyone knows the response. He never really signed much and I don't believe he does any conventions anymore, so having these is a nice addition. I have been fortunate to have met a large number of comic industry professionals, many of which I can still call my friend to this day.

Nicest professionals Ive met so far are Cameron Stewart, Francis Manapul, Ethan Van Schiver, and Tony Harris. For the most part most I have met are nice but there are a few stinkers out there.

I have thousands and thousands of issues filed away in complete runs, all bagged and boarded up in long boxes. They've been in storage for the past few years, so the pictures wouldn't be that exciting. Mostly Marvel and DC, though I did have a few favorites outside the Big Two. Now I keep up primarily through hardcovers and trades.

I probably have around 12 or 13 long boxes of bagged & boarded comics and probably enough bagged & boarded to fill another 3 or 4!

Mostly Batman (and related), Superman (and related), Justice League, X-Men related and Buffy Season 8-9 (and related) as well as assorted other titles TMNT, Ghostbusters, The Walking Dead and probably more that I'm forgetting.

I've been reading and collecting comics since the mid '80s. What really got me into them were Mage: The Hero Discovered and Grendel, both by Matt Wagner and published by Comico. I've never been a huge fan of superhero books, but I enjoy them if the writing and art are exceptional.

Current favorites:
Locke & Key
Rachel Rising

Other graphic novels I would recommend:

Batwoman: Elegy (amazing art)
Black Hole
The work of the Norwegian cartoonist Jason (I Killed Adolf Hitler, etc.)
Phonogram (especially the second volume)
Umbrella Academy
Ultra/Girls/The Sword (all by the Luna Bros.)
Echo
Astonishing X-Men (Whedon/Cassaday)

Yes it is one of the few series I wish I had started with the single issues... almost tempted to start now but Image trades are sooo affordable.

I started Saga with #1 as well but have not had time to read them yet. I know Fiona Staples is going to be here next year for out big comic-con in Seattle called Emerald City Comic-Con. If you want a show that is just as fun as SDCC without the chaos, check it out, March 1-3, 2013.

Another few series I have picked up but haven't read yet are The Massive from Dark Horse Comics, and Revival from Image Comics, which I have heard could be the next Walking Dead sleeper hit type.

If anyone hasnt read Saga, it just came out in trade (the first volume) for 9.99 which is a steal.

We have a really great con out here called Boston Comic Con, none of the hollywood BS and you get some great time to talk to the artists.

Revival has been nothing short of AMAZING. The 4th issue just came out yesterday. The best part for me with that series is the atmosphere, its what made me like Severed so much as well.
