Default Star Wars Comics

Any readers of Star Wars Comics in here?

They have had a lot of good series start this year. So far I have really enjoyed reading Dawn of the Jedi, Knight Errant and Agent of the Empire. Agent of the Empire really surprised me, didn't think I would like a book that did not contain any Jedi or Sith. Darth Vader and the Ghost Prison was also another good one, good story about Vader and Palpatine during the beginning of the Empire.

You have the X-Wing series, they are in omnibus now volume 1 and 2, pretty good series. No Jedi or Sith however that doesn't leave a lot of room for Star Wars

Most comics going back to the old republic is pretty much just jedi vs Sith. There were quite a good run in the 70's and 80's of comics that was just about the Rebels vs Empire I think you can find those under the name Classic Star Wars: A Long Time Ago... I don't know how many volume they have of these or if they are still in print

Yes those are the Marvel Star Wars comics. Dark Horse (who owns the publishing rights now) reprinted them and put all of them into an omnibus collection.

Glad to see they are still in print. I ran into troubles with some of the 90's releases that I just can't find anymore as they are out of print. I could buy them from Ebay or Amazon sellers but the prices are crazy. I like Star Wars but I have my limits

I just received this one today, will start reading it later tonight

That looks like it's going to be a fun read! Let me know what you think. I may just have to pick it up.

I still have all my Tales of the Jedi books that featured Ulic Qel-Droma and Mara Jade...even though I love Stars Wars above most everything else, I found those books to really be the only ones I've ever identified with outside of the original movies.

Anyone else excited for Brian Wood's Star Wars book? Launches in January. The guy's one of my two favorite comic writers (along with Grant Morrison). The book looks like a great throwback to classic ANH era Star Wars.

When I saw the listing in Previews the other day I quickly signed up. I grew up on the Marvel Comics series, and in the early 90's I enjoyed the Dark Horse series but then I lost interest because there simply were too many. I think this new series, which is ongoing and not a mini-series, which I prefer, is going to bring a lot of the older Marvel Comics/Star Wars fans into collecting it again. The artwork I have seen so far looks really good and Brian Wood is a great writer. I hope the series stays with Dark Horse and doesn't transfer to Marvel, as Dark Horse has really held it's own in this industry and I'd like them to continue with the license.

Where do they sell these and is it possible to jump right in?

Is this considered EU?

Do you mean where do they sell this new Brian Wood-written Star Wars series? It's not out yet. It is listed in the current issue of Previews which is all of the items coming out in January. If you have a comic book store in your area you can mention you want to order it and they can add it to their monthly order form. This will be a monthly ongoing series so a new issue comes out every month. Not sure what you meant by "is this considered EU" though?

I'm excited for the new Brian Wood's books. It's going to be awesome reading more stories during the original trilogy era. The Empire and Rebellion series were good reads and they took place during those eras.

People do realize that Dark Horse is going to lose the Star Wars license for comics? After their purchase, Disney will quickly move the license to their comics division.

Well Dark Horse has already made a statement that they will be continuing the Star Wars license for the near future. Now after that contract runs out then maybe Marvel might take over the comic series, again.

True, Disney could simply move all the titles over to Marvel once the license is out, but at the same time, they could even renew it and keep the titles under Dark Horse since they have handled them for over 20 years and done it well, maybe Dark Horse, who is an outstanding company, will negotiate with them to continue the titles with them, but at the end of the day, you probably are right and it will port over to Marvel. I hope they don't, but reality is, it probably will.

I wouldn't mind if the license stayed with Dark Horse, but Disney will definitely move the comics over to Marvel. They are bringing all their properties in-house and under tight control.

It's interesting and glad I bought it. However if you got the Essential Chronology that was release some years ago, it's pretty much the same with a few updated info, new art and the maps. Still very interesting read. I also got the new Old Republic encyclopedia, lot,s of details in that one too. It,s good if you are a Star Wars nut like me and like collecting

I'm a HUGE Star Wars nut! With that said most likely I will be getting this eventually.

Also a new series of Agent of the Empire started late last month and the TPB came out for the first series, for those wanting to jump into this series it's a good time to go pick up the first issue and TPB and start reading the series.
