According to the link, Marvel is giving away 700 first free issues for free until Tuesday. Hope some of you like this and take advantage. I for one prefer the actual hard-copy comic book.

Here is a blog I regularly read that lists some of the better issues one can get from this promotion.
http://collectededitions.blogspot.co...ed+Editions%29 People are also reporting severe server crashes. |

Once again a company severely underestimates consumer response. They finally had to kill the deal, but are accepting email addresses from anyone interested in the freebie "sale" so that they can send emails later.
I was interested in a bunch of them. People need to realize in cases like this that you can "buy" the free books now while the deal is on and not try to download 700 comic books... that killed their servers... killed so bad that people couldn't buy other comics from other publishers, couldn't buy Marvel books either, couldn't download already-purchased books as well! Companies need to learn that responses to big deals are always high... don't offer stuff like this if you aren't prepared to be unprepared. A smarter idea also would have been to curb downloads on those free books... allow the purchases for people who wanted to buy all 700 but not put them into the auto-download queue... let people download them at their leisure later to read... nobody needed to download all 700 in one shot, just needed to make the purchases and add to your virtual collection. |
