Hey guys, just wondering if there's been any new ways on testing iTune codes that do require the discs? I finally decided to pull out all my movies that have digital copies...turns out 70% of them are old expired iTunes codes and yah...includes the stupid digital copy disc. Reason why i want to test them is to throw them on my trades list for movies i don't have.

thanks

Wipe the hard drive and the reinstall from a back up image

Only because it hasn't already been posted... I have a much easier way to test itunes than this. But it will only work if you do not use itunes yourself. I have itunes 10.7. When I enter a code that is redeemed it tells me that it has already been redeemed on another apple account. When a code is valid it sends me to agree to the new terms and conditions. As long as you don't agree, click that little red x, your code will remain untouched.

Ditto - I've been using this method since I don't iTunes. It seems to be accurate so far. Was actually coming here to see if anyone else had tried this method to check on reliability.

Hmm... when I try to check my iTunes codes, it's prompting for a login immediately when entering the redemption screen. Thought it used to not ask for login until after entering the code?

iTunes always asks me to log-in when I go to the redemption screen. Then, if I'm idle for a bit and enter a code, it'll ask me to sign in again.

The steps should be essentially the same, terminating iTunes with extreme prejudice before redeeming. I don't have a spare code handy or I'd test this out right now:

Replace Steps 5-7 with Select Force Quit from the  menu and replace Step 9 with Select iTunes from the Force Quit window and press the Force Quit button.

Thanks wasn't sure which to quit on the activity monitor between iTunes and iTunes helper. Sure enough method seemed to work, thanks!

you can also option key + right click on the itunes icon to force quit instead of normal quit.

Just want to bump this up. This works GREAT!

Just to clarify, in case this has been discussed after the fact (I didn't read all the comments). The first time I did this, there were more than one iTunes items showing up in the task manager. Something called iTunes helper, and then the iTunes.exe. I stopped the helper first, and then the .exe. The iTunes closed. I logged back in, re-entered the same code again, and again it asks me if I wanted to redeem it. So, I can confirm the method, and the "killing the .exe program" halts the redemption process 100%.

Thank you!!

AM I missing something here? When I enter the code and press redeem it automtically redeem the card and adds $ to my account. No warning message whatsoever. I have a MAC and used force Quit. Thanks for any suggestions from any one.
