Default Question about Projector Lamps ?

Got a BENQ w1070. If the image now suddenly is a bit darker than it used to be. Does it mean the lamp is no good anymore or beginning to burst ?

I ran a 1070 for about 3 years. bulb started to darken a little so I through in a new one and "wow" I forgot how bright it was before break in. bought a 3050 about a year and a half ago but I'll never sell the 1070. great back-up.

Go with OEM, even if it costs more I would never put a cheap generic bulb in my projector.

Projector lamps dim a LOT within the first 100 hours of use, this is not abnormal.

Once they dim, they will continue to do so, but at a much and at a slower rate......it's the big initial hit in loss of brightness that throws people off, and makes them think they have a faulty unit when they don't.

That's why I never calibrate my PJ's when I change a lamp until this dimming happens [A waste of time]

TV's, whichever technology used, suffer the same, but to a much lesser degree
