Star Trek TNG was my version of the franchise growing up, and The Best of Both Worlds was shocking to my childhood self. When Riker gives that order to fire, it just sends shivers up and down your spine. I bought the combined movie version on Blu-Ray, and it still works as a whole story instead of a two-parter.

The end of season 1 of South Park: Who is Cartman's dad? To me it rivalled who shot Mr. Burns.

Another mention for Who Shot Mr. Burns. There was a lot of hype at the time and it was still golden era Simpsons. It had people talking about it that entire summer. I didn't grow up with Dallas and had no idea at the time it was a parody.
