Obviously I'm really glad it got renewed for a second season, even if it's not a surprise really. I figured it would if they were willing to spend a lot of money advertising it during the Super Bowl. |

I'm loving this show but...
I was a bit alarmed when they announced the premise was that she could immediately sense when someone was lying. Basically, she's a superhero, rather than a detective. At first, though, I thought they were navigating it pretty well. But as the series has gone on, it's inevitably sidelined the main character, as all she has to do is basically ask a suspect whether they did it or not. This makes the solving of the crime less interesting than the method of the crime itself. Contrast that with Columbo, where he actually had to do some detection, and he had 90 minute episodes to do it in. This is, I think, a bit of a conceptual flaw which will provide diminishing returns. They need to find a way to complicate matters, perhaps with an episode where she gets it wrong. What happens, for example, if she comes up against someone who believes their own lies? Would she still know they were lying? One way or another, they'll need to put a dent in this God-like ability of hers. The set-ups are great but you don't want Lyonne to become the least interesting character in her own show. They could also do with giving the show some room to breathe. As I said, I'm really enjoying POKER FACE. I'm just worried they're writing themselves into a corner. But I also don't want to know how she got this power so I hope they don't go down that route. |

I'm through episode four and I like the show quite a bit, but there is one big change I'd make if I was in charge: I don't like that we, the audience, are ahead of Charlie and that we already know the answers she is looking for. Not sure if that would really work with this show's formula, but already knowing whodunnit makes it a little less engaging. The barking dog in 4 had me

I've only seen 3 episodes so far as I'm taking it an episode at a time, but unless there's another dog in episode 4, the dog was in episode 3. Just pointing it out, and there were some great scenes with it regardless. |

![]() An honest mistake though. It is sometimes hard to keep track of everything, especially if you watch a lot of shows. It's usually easier for me to keep track of ones I would consider to be my favorites, with this already being one of those, but I have definitely lost count with some shows in the past. |

This started out pretty good, the first 3-4 episodes, but the last couple have been subpar in the story telling. The guest actors are doing great but the storyline is becoming stale. There is no real back story episode or how she learned to hone her skills. She just knows right away whe someone is lying, is kind of hard to believe every week. Hope it picks back up.

As others have noted, the special lie detector power has sort of run its course in this show now, to the point where it’s all got a bit predictable/formulaic. |
