I'm really getting tired with America getting better releases than us. Australia always tends to get either exactly the same as overseas or inferior, never something superior.

If I confirmed it was a lossless track it was a typo. I only ever recall saying it was region free and then when people brought it up noted that it wasn't lossless and that I hadn't noticed. It is sad that we should have to check for correct audio settings on a blu-ray now the format is eight years old, especially for a big budget film like this. The loss of 7.1 to 5.1 is the bigger problem to me, 1.5mbps and lossless is something I can't say I have heard the difference between. Though lossless should still be provided as their is no reason not to. I may take my disc back, $39.99 for a non optimal disc is simply to expensive.

Disney really has become the worst major studio in terms of the quality of their blu-ray releases, from recent poor transfers, to not releasing 3d blu-rays to the world largest movie market, to bodged audio and a refussal to release anything that isn't new or a select 'classic' film and so on.

I have now posted the new info to the Australian Blu-ray versions to warn anyone else thinking of buying it.

Just had a look on iTunes and Sleeping Beauty now has iTunes Extras so if you brought the blu ray way back and when and where disappointed with the lack of special features just re-download your digital copy in HD (if you didn't already) and all the NEW special features are there from the blu ray that was released in America this week

I'm going to try and get a refund today from sanity. I wouldn't have bought it had I know they had given a sub par and lossy mix. This is the kind of thing customers shouldn't have to worry about, it should just be done right. It would be like buying it and it only having sd video.

I would of thought disney would of set up an exchange program quickly to sort out any of the issues
it has to be an error in the manufacturing process there's no way they would deliberately not give us the hd audio
But the fact they have been so slow to acknowledge it is just the drizzling Sh!ts

Got a response back from Disney regarding the soundtrack on the Maleficent Blu-ray:

"Hi Adam,

Thank you for writing to us with your feedback.

The decision to utilize a specific audio format is made by the regional team within that specific market and this review process is done for each movie title. With Maleficent, the decision was to use Master Audio 5.1 for the Australian market.
