It didn't do much for me either. On the other hand I loved Deadly Manor.

Well, I'm with you. I finally watched this movie for the first time last night but it's somewhat disappointing...

I just watched this for the first time and thought it was very enjoyable. Especially the first hour. It lost some steam over the final 30 minutes. Regardless, it’s definitely a fun slasher. Had more gore and kills than I was expecting since it was originally a “tv movie”.

I've seen it numerous times on VHS and always liked it but the upgrade to HD really helped it IMO and I enjoyed it even more.

I need to see Deadly Manor. Is Vinegar Syndrome putting out Rest in Pieces?

I had time to watch both this and Larraz' other feature Deadly Manor over the course of the long weekend and I gotta say I enjoyed both, with 'Manor' being my favorite. The biggest complaint I've read about 'Manor' is that it's a slow burner but this is actually not a detriment for me. Part of the fun is watching a bunch of people wandering around a spooky old house IMO. Another complaint is that the kills weren't imaginative but this also isn't a problem for me. Some casual horror fans may get bored with it all but I didn't.

Edge of the Axe was fairly bloody for a "TV" movie. The PQ is fantastic, which is a good thing because the location photography is pretty awesome. Spain was an excellent stand-in for California. I was wondering what was with all the product placement and then I realized, well, this was shot in Spain so the production designer needed it to look like an American city. Everywhere you look there are American products prominently placed Good slasher flick.

I know Vinegar Syndrome has Larraz' Rest In Pieces coming up later in the year and I wonder if it'll hold up. I remember renting the VHS and not liking the movie very much but I may end up liking it this time.

I really wish people would quit with the "tv movie" stuff; there's very little evidence that suggests this is actually true.

Even when searching the title on the Wikipedia app it pops up as a “1988 television film”.

I just watched Deadly Manor and didn't really enjoy it. Pacing issues abound.

It is redic crazy for sure.

I'm over an hour into listening to the audio commentary with Samm Deighan and Kat Ellinger and they point out some things that make it fun esp the horror movie tropes and just small Larraz touches.

Some great on the set stories.

and you have to admit the
[Show spoiler] Car on the slab
is a great a WTF moment.

Oh yeah for sure, it has some cool ideas that don't really get fleshed out enough.

I dont know of any proof it was a TV movie. It could possibly have been as European TV is not as controlled as TV in North America. Nudity and such are not a big deal on TV even in the UK. I had a Danish prerecord of this on VHS and although I can't read Danish, there was nothing on the box to suggest it was. I learned to read a bit of many languages as I was getting lists of rare titles from around the world (prior to translations on the internet or even any IMDb listings). I had to teach myself to read and could pretty much figure out the basic plot of a movie using the words I knew if I was reading the back of a video box. Also maybe a made for TV movie in some countries can mean something similar to.the level of movies made for pay TV with violence and nudity.

Watched Deadly Manor and if you enjoyed this, I would suggest checking that out. Acting is worse than it is here, but it's a bit humorous. For what it's worth I found it entertaining and glad Arrow put out both of these even though they aren't the greatest of films.

I enjoyed this one overall. The acting wasn't exactly award winning, but the performances at least felt honest and natural which I'll take over bad actors "trying to act". I liked the character dynamics and the flavor of this moutaintop community which adds to the charm. Kills were indeed tame, but not without blood at least. The atmosphere is what really worked putting on the windy nights and moon casting it's dim glow making shadows everywhere.

What kinda perplexes me is the ending. Cheesy in a good way, but also doesn't make much sense.

I disagree with this. As I stated elsewhere, there's an unrelenting sadism to the kills which set it apart from other slashers, IMO.

Thanks to the iTunes sale on Arrow titles, I blind bought this and several other slashers that I probably would not have otherwise took a chance on. Even though the pace was a bit slow and there weren’t a lot of kills, it was almost like a slasher / giallo hybrid and I enjoyed it overall. In particular, it was interesting to see how a film from that time period incorporated a home computer. Was surprised to see that the woman that played Lillian was never in any other movies. I thought she did a great job and was pretty cute.

Will be checking out Deadly Manor next.

Hilarious acting at times. Not really that exciting of a film and I personally don't think the kills are imaginative or very brutal. The same can be said of Deadly Manor, unfortunately. For a genre that's got little else to go on except being creative with it's kills none of these two films really deliver.

It's an alright film. The most interesting thing was the two teens chatting with their home computer and somehow getting access to medical files from some psychiatric ward just by typing a few letters. The view on digital communication is really a bit naive, which makes it cute.

Anyway, great start to 2020 as far as never released 80s horror on blu-ray is concerned.
Just watched this last night and came here to ask about this! I enjoyed the movie but this bothered me. I would guess this was pretty obvious in theaters too
