To make it even more "strange", Disney can do and actually does that too: restoring them closer to the original filmic look. The thing is, they only do that with their "lesser" titles, like "The Rescuers"; it is not overdone completely like the big titles, it is not scrubbed to death like "The Aristocats", it is simply clean enough, without losing detail, and still with a small amount of grain present. Perfect! That's the way to do it.
