I still think you must be looking at it wrong. The "smudged pixel-mess" is the German BD. The 4K still has the same higher gamma but it isn't collapsing into macroblocking like the German BD.

But I'm sticking with the MoC regardless, so hey ho.

The new german BD by Studio Hamburg is the same crap.
Both, the new BD and UHD Disc aren’t even close to the compression of the Eureka.
Banding and weird colored pixel squares that aren’t visible in the Eureka version.
Missing grain in the darker shadows.
