Looks like we'll be getting MONO and STEREO sets. Sweetness!!!!

Well since Vinyl is not for iPods I hope they don't use the couple of dB's peak limiting for the Stereos this time

We all knew it was coming I suppose, but getting confirmation of this actually happening is most wonderful news indeed. Count me as one of the first ones in line to buy both boxsets. Unless, of course, it breaks the bank.

They're not coming cheap. I think that's a given. Thank God my original pressings are all in really good shape.

They are also coming in a limited edition USB stick with moderately high-resolution files at 24-bit/44.1 kHz. A strange choice, as I will be waiting for the eventual Blu-ray releases at hopefully the full resolution these were made at. I hope the mastering on the vinyl albums are better than the CDs.

The big question is whether they made (or are making) new vinyl masters or whether they're going to use the CD masters for the vinyl.

The tendency of record companies today is to be unwilling to pay for the vinyl master and try to get away with using the CD master.

If they use the CD master, then the question is what sounds better? This new version or an old EMI British pressing?

IMO, they shouldn't bother with both mono and stereo. The three true stereo albums should be in stereo and everything else in mono.

10.10.10 - I like the sound of that. I'll be surprised if they get it out in April like was originally rumoured. For sure they want to do it properly, so Fall seems likely.

Here's hoping for 12.12.12 for the Blu-ray release also.

How much do you figure the boxsets will go for? With the premium prices of regular new issued vinyl nowadays it won't be cheap. I think the MONO boxset will hit the $300 mark easy.

After I posed the question I did a bit more research and found out that the set hasn't been released yet.

No real certainty as to when either. Just keep waiting!

The good news is it will probably be done properly and not rushed, hence why they haven't set a date yet.

Done right I'd be okay with paying $300 for the MONO set, which is why I didn't spend any money on the CD sets, haha.

This is an older blog entry(April '10) but it says the release date is October 4th 2010. According to it it will be sold individually or as a 16lp set. They will be on 180g. Looks to be stereo only. Nothing about if they're mastered from the analog master tapes. They had better be or buying the vinyl would be pointless. It would be nice to finally replace my awful vinyl copy of Sgt Peppers.
