compared to the r2 dvd that sounds bass weak in dynamic range , the THX laserdisc is theatrical mix dynamic range is bass energy strong , on JBL 4673A that i didn't even use the sub bass extension it had enough low end carried across LCR and when compared same scene over and over THX laserdisc to r2 dvd THX the watered down near field dvd , or even blu with so called lossless audio is just made for soundbar rather than proper theatrical JBL professional cinema pa speakers

bass was pressing against my body , foley sound effects i felt the action of madmartigan sword , against kael in the stomach and felt more less same approximation ! wow that is what THX/TAP Dolby Stereo is all about , THX wow !
I heard this title is one of the ones most frequently plagued by laser rot. Nice to know yours is not.

laserdisc , the right stuff 1983 , Dolby Stereo 4.2.4 , lucasfilm ltd THX sound system

more theatrical mixes , once owned sold 2000 with over hundred laserdisc for dvd , convince but near field mixes as know now and blu uhd is no better , just near field for tiny speakers

the dvd is okay same as blu pointless marketing dolby hype that high bit rate , find way sell old movie , the surrounds should be mono discrete as only a few 70mm used split surround

tested last , no night , willow THX laserdisc wins

blu looks like lipstick on a pig , with watered down dynamic range that lacked bass slam to the chest or even bass depth which is only reserved for THX laserdisc ,

i got THX r1 , had r2 while and not even played blu in no years since last , no night and it was dreadful dtshdma lossless audio , lossless lossy i think its marketing lie , as the THX laserdisc sounds like more than lossless audio , uncompressed audio

not brought blu 4k atmos for 7 no months now , mostly laserdisc , mostly
blu is hit and miss ? sometimes theatrical mix is rarely , and i have no time for rarely , so laserdisc is back on the map as x marks theatrical mix

I just bought my first Laserdisc-player
Damn, I`m so happy right now. This has been my dream for years.

Watched 30 minutes of Alien and was suprised how quiet the player is. Picture quality wasn`t bad at all and sound was really good.

Next I`m gonna need more movies and rf-demodulator.

The Sony SDP-e800 is a popular demodulator and has been featured/discussed in this thread a good amount.
