Sorry. Only one. Didn't realize how fast they'd sell out. Have you been reading the BBY GotG SB thread? It's hilarious. Posts deleted. Dogs and cats living together. Mass hysteria.

Snuck out for a little treaty-treat. Don't tell anyone. They'll want their cut.

Hey Wabo,

What's goin' on man?

So what are your thoughts on the Emo XMC-1 vs an Atmos processor?

I think my processor is about ready to take a dirt nap, so I'll be in the same position as you, wondering whether to go with the Emo or maybe the Marantz 8802.

My main worry about Atmos is the actual content, seems pretty slim and some Atmos titles seem to have been canceled or not be on the disc like at first advertised. Atmos does show some good promise as the addition of the ceiling speakers could have a very good effect, which sometimes I find missing with my current and past setups. Not all the time but there's really some opportunity for a big improvement.

Not too worried about installing the speakers, the basement isn't finished anyway and I've run some speaker wires to the approx locations in the ceiling. Just don't want to buy into something that's pretty much just going to be upsampling regular content all the time.

Not only better bass. The whole dynamic range is improved. Better surrounds and PQ too.

Bummer about your AVR kicking the bucket. Take it as a sign from God. Lol. Recently watched the Blues Brothers.

Now that the XMC is shipping with Dirac it's a tough call. I'd love to play around with it. If I upgrade, I'm probably going with the 8802. I don't even plan to use Atmos for quite some time. But it's always nice to get a new AVP.

Atmos content sucks. It's like the studios just don't care. I wouldn't buy a pre/pro just for it's ability to process Atmos.

Lets go shopping.

what i love about the 8802 is not only does it have future support for ATMOS & probably the one from DTS too, it has all XLR pre-outs, 7.1 multichannel inputs and plenty of HDMI outputs. the only thing it's missing on the rear panel is a USB-B so it can host as a USB DAC for direct PC streaming. that's not a big deal since you can stream hi-rez audio from a NAS via the network jack; wonder if they are gonna go all out and make it a gigabit ethernet jack?

when it's time for me to upgrade my failing 5507, this will be my choice. i know it's gonna be expensive, but, the multichannel in sold me. everybody else has given up the multichannel inputs so they could support the ATMOS. so far, this is the only pre-amp that supports both and that's a big plus for me.

The AV7702 has all of that as well. 7.1 multl-channel and all xlr. Its definitely something to look at because the biggest difference between the two is the AV8802 adds an additional analogue input on RCA, another component output, an XLR balanced input and balanced outputs 13.2 where the av7702 has 11.2 balanced inputs.

Most definitely, this thing is a beast. Rumor has it the 8802 will ship with both HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2. Also, Auro 3D will be available as a $199 upgrade. It's a big box full of win.

No question, the 7702 is a monster. Come to think of it, we're still waiting for your review.

As of now, nothing official has been released on the 8802. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the 8802 has beefier DACs as well.

Keep in mind this is just a guess. I'm thinking around the $3500 mark. Give or take a few.
