Is it safe to link MA to FandangoNow yet? Just talked to a supervisor there at FN who says the issues only existed for a couple days where titles were downgrading and that if there is an issue now, they are escalating to the corporate office to fix titles. Has anybody tried this?

I have a case open since 3/13 for my 5 affected movies and they haven't done jack shit.

Correct. Actually, they said that they have MA now and not UV. So you're screwed if your titles were HD on UV. I'm still waiting on UV to come back with a response. They said they're escalating it.

not sure if I want to post here, but I hope it helps those who connected MA to fandangonow and lost access to UV movies.

there is a way to get access to them temporarily.

I'm not sure if this is a glitch or whatever, but it's been this way since the start, so this should work until further notice.

you will have access to your lost UV movies (movies mentioned in OP that got downgraded to sd, plus the sony UHD ones) for one minute (or less than that) every time you reconnect fandangonow and MA.

the trick is to start playback when this happens and it will play at higher quality until you quit the movie (I have tried on Roku only)

be aware that there is a limit of 3 reconnect per day between fandangonow and MA (not sure if it counts against other providers), once the limit is reached, you won't be able to connect back for 24 hours.

I have reconnected many times as long as I don't do more than twice a day and it's been working since.

I hope this helps

I was just on with FN support who acknowledged UHD downgrading is still an issue and also mentioned that they do escalate issues up to corporate. She didn't know what, if anything, corporate was able to do yet to resolve. So she advised against linking to MA right now if you have UHD titles that might be impacted.

She also said that not every customer is impacted by this. But I'm thinking that might be more a factor of which UHD titles a specific person has in their library.

She opened a case for me on "12 Strong" having a format error when viewing on a Samsung TV. I added the UHD downgrade issue to my ticket so, assuming their process works as designed, I should get notified when the UHD downgrade issue is resolved. If I hear anything I'll post.

Finally got resolution:

All 4 titles have been upgraded to HD on FDN by FDN. I received no email notification that this was done. I just randomly checked my account.

yes they fixed this for everyone. but they would not transfer to MA.

I talked to MA and they said VUDU is the only one that can be the bridge between UV and MA. They state that those sony UHD titles in UV will transfer to MA if and only if VUDU adds them in UHD

Good to know but not good news regarding Sony titles.

Which means there is pretty much no reason to even link FandangoNow to MA unless you prefer the Fangando app for watching for some reason.

well but fandangonow does have cheap credits from Groupon and livingsocial and coupons, and 4k deals. Purchases from fandangonow does transfer to MA.

also fandangonow is the only place to buy and access fox 4k titles other than iTunes

But wouldn't the movies transfer to Vudu via UV anyway (including movies from Paramount and Lionsgate that don't transfer via MA), and from there to MA if eligible?

Disregarding the fact that newer Fox and Universal titles aren't UV on VUDU either, FandangoNow no longer supports UV other than Paramount and Lionsgate.

I'm not sure about TV content, but for movies from WB, Sony, Fox and Universal, it's done.

well yeah, fandangonow is unique in a way that a movie can only have either MA or UV flag.

VUDU is the only provider that has movies having both flags at the same time.

UV titles still transfer into FandangoNow, I found this out with The Iron Giant and even my most recent purchase of the Wrong Turn Collection shows up. I don’t have FNow connected to MA and these show up under the Ultraviolet section of my library.

I still haven’t gotten enough courage to buy a title on FNow and see if it works the other way. I doubt it and am sure FNow only grants UV rights to Paramount, Lionsgate, and the smaller distributors.

This may already be common knowledge to everyone, but I finally received a note back from FandangoNow support letting me know that the UHD downgrade issue related to MA linking has been resolved!

It took 2 months to get an answer, but at least they did follow back up with me. See below.

"Thank you for your previous contact and your interest in FandangoNOW.

We apologize about any frustration this may have caused but I will be more then happy to assist you. At this time the the Movies anywhere issue of downgrading has been resolved. If you are still experiencing issues please let us know.

We hope this information helps and thank you for making FandangoNOW your choice for online movie streaming!

Can someone help to confirm this is finally resolved? I'm reluctant to attach my FandangoNow account to MA because of the downgrade. Much appreciated

I didn't have a lot of movies downgraded, but the ones I did have been fixed. I did not have to contact FN. They just fixed them.

I have tomb raider reboot in uhd digital at vudu and FandangoNOW says it is sd but still uhd at vudu!! I could disconnect between FandangoNOW and movies Anywhere and reconnect not disconnecting uv and see what happens because when I got transformers box on FandangoNOW in uhd my hdx transformers on vudu became uhd, sadly no bumblebee ported to vudu so I'll have to wait for ultraviolet go away before it's likely that the holdout studios would join movies Anywhere!
