I also joined the OLED club last year. And I also finally went Atmos a couple of years ago.
It is a townhouse and the room is completely open (180 degrees opposite of what I had).

I will try to upload pics, but it may or may not work

The large wall to the left in pic #2 is where the front soundstage will have to go (yes, I will be sitting close, but little choice), so it will be wide and open. I know I will be asking a lot of these SVS subs.....but I have faith.

What did you end up doing?
Nothing, the "jacked up" one is still sitting on the floor in my basement next to the replacement amp and replacement driver. However, with a Marantz AV 10 on the way, I might make the necessary fixes which means it just might become the third basement sub (it was originally in the living room system, but has since been replaced by the newest one).

Nice! I doubt I'd have been able to part with the new one, either.

Gut instinct it tells me two SVS subs at each front corner (well, as close as you can get to that with a wide open space on one side) and toed-in (as viewed from MLP/MVP) should be fine.

Reality tells me there's no way to be sure until you hook 'em up and try.

Totally agree.....until I actually test the subs in their new location, there is no way to truly know. I have risers I made for each sub, so that will help to decouple them as well. Aesthetics are not really a huge concern either. I actually like to have the subs in view and not hide them. Most "non HT people" see them and ask what the hec they are. When I tell them, they usually give me the "WTF" look.

Haha, right, but we knew that'd be the case in my instance. That Marantz pre/pro has four sub outs, so I might consider using it in conjunction with SVS's wireless system...ever used it?

Not yet, but I've read nothing but good things. I do want to try one eventually if/when I get around to setting up a system in my loft. All the gear is up there, just have to get off my lazy arse and do it.

I've been in the same boat the last 16 years since moving into this house. I previously had a dedicated room. My place now is an open floor plan. The HT is in my living room, open on one side to the kitchen and the rest of the house. Lot of space to fill/pressurize but my two PSA XV-15se subs do just fine. Although I do have a 3rd 15" (my good ol AV123 MFW-15) that I use from time to time, depending on what I'm watching.

But thank goodness for auto-setup/EQ and also multi-subwoofer control. Once those hit the market, they really made a difference. I do have a 2nd setup that is closed off in my home office/mancave (where the SVS 1000s live), but honestly I don't have a preference one way or another where I watch. Things sound great in both. It's home. And that's gonna be the cool thing when you get yours going, you get to make it your own!

Yes, more than ever, EQ will be very important to get the balance I need. The Pioneer VSX-LX305 has both Dilac and MCACC. I think subwoofer placement will be my biggest challenge, as those things are big, so you only have so many options....not to mention maintaining the aesthetics with the cables.

I will be using a 3rd bedroom as my office for work/gaming/TV watching.....but having any type of 3.1 or 5.1 configuration in that room will come in time and I have a feeling my son may be in that room more than me.

I'm sure it'll all work out, and as long as whatever AVR/processor you go with has multi-sub control that'll be huge.

I have a 5.4.2 Atmos setup built around my desk/hutch and book case behind me. If you decide to put something together in yours, let me know and I'll share my setup for tips hopefully.

I'll say this though, dual SVS PB1000 Pros in that small room is just killer! And even just running one of them packs a punch!

I bet they pack more than just a punch...that is crazy....but some of us love our bass. Thanks for the offer, I will let you know if/when I decide to do something in that room.

The 305 has dual subwoofer outputs, but they are not independent of one another. The 505 is the same, oh well.

You definitely want that level of control. I have one mismatching sub in my main setup (the good ol' MFW-15), and the only way I was able to get it to the defatcto +6db was from having independent sub adjustment.

I'm jealous of Rage, he's gonna have 4 independent adjustments when he gets his AV10.

You are still rocking a MFW-15? Now I feel real old. No luck with the independent signals.....both the Pioneer 305 and 505 send a single signal out, even though there are 2 sub-outs. I guess I will never know what I am missing since I never had that in the first place.

Rage will have 4 independent signals with the AV10? Yeah, with Marantz, I am not surprised, but that is out of my budget.

That is a pretty nice gift.....you must be doing something right.

Since I am buying a house in July, I need EVERYTHING to furnish ALL the rooms, and I mean everything. By my spreadsheet estimation, that will cost me around $20,000, so nothing left in the budget for something like the Marantz. I am currently living with my dad right now (got divorced in 2021) and I only have my home theater equipment and clothes in storage.

Outside of being alive half a century, not sure.

I hear ya, been there myself...it takes some time to get everything built back up again, but you'll get there.

Still have just the sub itself. The amp died some time ago. I gutted the amp and just kept the plate attached, and soldered the driver speaker wire to the banana terminals and running it off an outboard pro-amp (Crown XLS-1500). I also added an RCA high-passfilter between the processor and amp so that I don't kill the driver.

Yeah, I can't justify the AV10 either. I've spent way more than I should'a already with last summer's upgrades. Weird though that Pioneer doesn't have separate sub controls. Maybe they have a reason or didn't feel they needed it. Dirac is supposed to be pretty awesome, after all.

So we're all in the 50 club! I hit 52 last summer (36 when I joined here ). I like to say the speaker upgrade was my b-day present, but really it was born of the room makeover we did last summer.

I loved the new speakers so much that I got another set for the office/mancave. Had I not done that, I might have room for an AV10 as I've been tempted. But hey, I'm beyond happy with my gear, and that's what counts.
