Default My Wii Died......Help? (Problem Solved! - Power Brick Reset)

I've had it for about a year and a half but have only used it maybe a dozen times or so. It was a couple months since last use but I went to torn it on tonight and it wouldn't light up. There is no light in the power button. I checked the cord and it is plugged in right. I know it isn't the outlet. Any suggestions?

I'm assuming that you checked to make sure all the wiring was plugged into the back.

I dunno. Call Nintendo?

Well. Time for the basics. You got any pets like.. Cats, who could have chewed into the power cable at all? My gfs cat chewed through my sensor bar wire =( . Secondly, give 'er the classic unplug from back of the wii, plug back in routine to ensure its in, do the same for the wall. Check the plug in the back of the wii for bent connections and clean contacts. Then you'll have to try a different outlet - just in case as a last resort. I'd hate to think the wii got torched in a thunderstorm or something because the red or yellow light should almost always be on. Now, I don't know if you soft modded your wii or not, and it's not really my business, but if you had WiiConnect 24 on, the newest update 4.3 allegedly cripples Wiis.

The wires are all behind the shelving unit like my PS3, receiever, cable box etc. They are fine. I unplugged and replugged it. I have it plugged into the same power strip as the other things. I did move it to a different plug but that didnt help. The light isn't on at all. I don't know how to update it so Im not sure if I did something wrong there. We generally turn it on like once every 2 months.

You don't have to know how to update it for Nintendo to update it. As long as Wii Connect 24 is on and it has access to your network, it'll update automatically. Let's try resetting the Wii's power brick. Unplug it from the power bar and from the back of the Wii and leave it unplugged for 5 minutes. Remove all USB devices plugged into the Wii at this time and leave them out as well. After 5 minutes, plug it (the brick) back into the Wii and then *directly into the wall - not the surge protector*. If it powers back on, then resetting the brick worked, and you can put it back into the power bar.

Another problem could be dust buildup into the fan. You can blow it out with compressed air, or use a brush attachment for a vacuum.

Just an FYI to other Wii owners, this is a fairly common occurence with the Wii (it has happened a couple of times with mine in 2 years). Here's the official Wii support page with instructions for resetting the power brick:
