Some of the Harry Potter are 4K on the Irish Store.

What causes this?

Going to hold off on the 4K panic since they typically come back.

Has anyone figured out a way to track which movies are getting new extras? There used to be a page, but they stopped updating it a year ago. For example, pretty sure Black Hawk Down got new extras with the 4K upgrade, but I have no idea which others.

Those movies losing 4K doesn't really worry me. Yet. I am a little perplexed that The Witch hasn't gone 4K yet now that the 4K disc is out. Green Room went 4K and that didn't even get a disc...

I think Hannibal is a weird edge case where the studio putting out the disc (Kino Lorber) must have bought the rights to do so but MGM retains digital rights. It's probably why the 4K disc has no code. I was worried about the same thing happening with Apocalypse Now with the 4K disc coming in August but apparently Lionsgate seems to have got the digital rights for it too, bless their hearts.

No idea what's happening with Hellboy II apart from it seems Universal has some kind of exclusivity thing with FandangoNow as that's the only place to redeem the code for 4K and the only place to watch it digitally in 4K too.

If you browse the iTunes store in iTunes there's actually a 'genre' tab and iTunes Extras is it's own section in there and once you're in there, there's a 'New iTunes Extras Just Added' section but it's hard to tell how up to date it is. BHD isn't on there in any case.

About 40 Movies in Austria are „downgraded“ to HD only at the moment.

For example:

A few Good Men
American Sniper
The Conjuring
This is the End
Ghostbusters 2
Harry Potter 2-8
Angels and Demons
Jerry Maguire
Men of Steel
Pacific Rim
The Big Lebowsky
The Equalizer

How good is MGM’s digital copy of HANNIBAL on iTunes in terms of quality?

"Hellboy II" was one of FandangoNow's Universal UHD collection, but as Universal has released some of those to 4K disc, they have come to other digital retailers as well.

I'd expect to see it added to iTunes, VUDU, Microsoft, and Movies Anywhere soon.

Oh this is going to be really fun if something we gifted to ourselves to upgrade to 4K gets downgraded and stays that way.

No additional information over what we already know.

Warner Bros movies revert to HD instead of 4K on iTunes, including already purchased titles

I wouldn't worry too much. I think pretty much every movie that previously got a temporary downgrade came back within a few weeks at most, apart from Heat which was gone a few months, but still came back. It might have been on the MeWe group, but someone theorized that the reason so many are getting the downgrade at once is Apple had/has a big update to tvOS coming out, which seems right as I think the last big update the same thing happened.

If you live in the U.S., you should still have 4K rights in Movies Anywhere, and Apple's 4K rights will return soon enough.

On my Apple TV, Big and Die Hard are under my 4k group even though when I click on the titles they show only HD as of now. It's good to know that my license for these movies is still 4k as I bought Big on itunes and Die hard on VUDU, where both are still 4k over there.
