No changes for me on my Apple TV 4K or my iPad Pro.

As much as I would love it, I think we're still a long way off from 4k Disney content.

I stubbornly only use iTunes so this is a stone drag.

I appreciate Apple's stance that HD is HD, be it 1080 or 4K.
I also welcome the free 4K upgrades for purchases and redemptions.

That said, I would be willing to pay an upgrade fee for Disney 4K titles or pay $5 more per 4K title at this point. I'm weak.

Disney makes up 1/3 or more of my collection and always will.
This stand still between these two giants is frustrating.
Hopefully, a deal can be struck soon.

The only problem with that is, once they do that for one studio the other studios will want the same then all of a sudden there’s no more free 4K upgrades and prices rise across the board.

Right, I figured that.

I don't pretend to have any solution.

I just want my cake and I want to eat it while watching The Empire Strikes Back in 4K.

Empire in 4K?

That's up to Lucasfilm, regardless of what the Mouse wants. I mean look at the Marvel films, Avengers and Avengers: Infinity War get 4K but Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor, Thor: the Dark World, and Ant-man did not.

Well, my mistake, I don't know the logistics.

I do know that Thor: Ragnarok got a 4K UHD physical and 4K UHD digital release.

Along with Avengers, Age of Ultron, Infinity War, Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2, Black Panther, Cars 3, A Wrinkle in Time, Coco, The Incredibles and The Last Jedi.

Solo
is up for pre-order
( not sure about Ant-Man and the Wasp)

None of these are available in 4K through iTunes though.

In the end , I was just joking that I wanted it all, Disney 4K / free upgrades and a title that isn't even released in 4K yet.

Has anyone had issues with Spider-Man 1,2,3 not flagging Atmos correctly when played through iTunes?

Atmos flags correctly when watching the same titles on Vudu.

Just rebooted my ATV and the 4K number dropped even further from 108 to 84.

My whole collection of movies is messed up with regards to 4K like others. It's all random looking over mine. I just bought the Conjuring today in 4K since it was on sale and it shows as HD only.

I think I have over 100+ 4k movies and only 15-20 or so show as 4K HDR.

I just watched Annabelle Creation (in HDR10) and Annabelle (in DV) on my 75Z9D, and I'm not exactly thrilled with the PQ.

For starters, Creation seems to have a slightly elevated black level that also fluctuates during dark scenes. It is especially obvious near the end of the movie when the cops enter the house. There is also what kind of looks like macroblocking in the darkest parts of the screen, except there is just one massive black "block" to be seen. Also when the movie does fade to blacks, I can clearly see that both the left as well as the right side of the screen are elevated. It almost looks as if the local dimming isn't functioning well. The thing is, I never have/had this with other sources. I then watched the first 10 minutes of John Wick 2 on UHD disc, and besides the blacks being pitch black, both sides of the screen are also pitch black.

Annabelle in Dolby Vision shared the same problems for me as Creation, except for the "block" anomaly.

Anyone watched the Annabelle movies and noticed the same thing(s)?

I'm about to watch The Conjuring in DV later on, see how that looks like.

Mine went from 199 to 81 to 45 today. I'm not particularly worried about it; I still think it's either them upgrading movie for their tvOS 12 launch or just changing things in the background, perhaps making it easier for people with previous HD purchase to rebuy movies in 4K instead of the gifting nonsense. Still, it's a little disconcerting in the meantime watching that number dwindle.

I'm watching on an OLED but I can't recall noticing anything like you're describing. But i'll double check and let you know.

Thanks.

Watched The Conjuring last night, and none of the problems which I described earlier with both Annabelle movies occured. Blacks looked fine as well as everything else. I did watch it in my bedroom this time, so different setup. Since it was late at night already, I didn't bother to check how the Annabelle movies looked though...

That is the most probable thing happening. I actually just checked and also lost all my 4K titles.
