Same feeling i had. They were not set up right when i listened to them in the middle of a show floor surrounded by totems across from them, a separate theater room etc. Set up is key.

Have not heard the 5's yet?

EDIT: Thanks again for all your help SD including all the other posts in this thread from day 1 to now. Pulled the trigger on the GE's and will have to bring my old Sony receiver out of retirement for now to set up the speakers when they arrive. Now to look into a new receiver and sub in the next couple of months! The never ending quest for upgrades Appreciate all the help these forums have provided me.

Cheers,

You went to a GE dealer to listen to the 7's? Did they not have any other models?

Yeah I put the speakers like that so that the baby doesn't know them down by accident still looking into a way to make sure she doesn't hurt herself.

What's next? Man I am not sure since this opened up a slew of possibilities. Probably look into the Supersub XXL when it comes out in October and I was not thinking about a projector and screen. We shall see how things pan out but with wifeys bday coming up and Christmas shopping I may just wait til the beginning of next year to add onto the home entertainment system.

Happy customer with smiles from ear to ear.

Cheers,

I have seen several people put up a complete baby gate around their whole system cause of those crawler/grabbers..
Also have you given any thought to adding an Amplifier maybe just a 3 channel.

Waiting til next year is a good thing with the ver changing hdmi 2.0 standards. I think they have 2.0a out now for HDR capable sets. Which means receivers will still follow suite.

Would you consider this amp in the future.....http://outlawaudio.com/products/5000.html

First am i have ever heard of that exceeds it rated power.

Show room floors are not ideal environments for evaluating speakers. The experts say the speakers will sound different in your home anyway. Also, B&M's won't allow you to demo the speakers, you have purchase them and if you don't like them they will give you get a 15-30 day return period.

Oh okay just suprised the dealer didn't have a pair of 5's so that you could compare them to the 7's.

This was prior to the 5's release.

Still have not heard them. Hopefully soon.

He might have, he did do a comparison with another set of Triton's, but I can't remember which set it was, I do know they were more expensive than the Triton 7's.

Well as for the 5's which I have the only thing I can say is that I went from a pair of Paradigm Studio 100's v5, and except for a small difference in overall volume from the initial setup, the Paradigms can't compare to the sound that comes from my 5's.
As for the difference in the volume that has changed as well with time I have found that the 5's can handle as much as my Paradigms did but with better clarity and sound. I used to play most of my music in 5.1 but after getting the 5's it is so much better in 2 channel.

When you say the Paradigm's can't compare to the sound of the Triton 5's are you speaking in reference to sound quality? The Paradigm Studio 100's v.5 are close to twice the price for a pair.

Well for me when listening to 2 channel music the difference was instant, you just hear more and its cleaner sound, but with less need for volume if that makes sense.
