It's a masterpiece, but the original is The Greatest Film in the History of the Known Universe™.

There definitely is such as thing as underrated. Sometimes a movie is so intricate, or so far ahead of its time, people have yet to appreciate it's genius, it hasn't founds its audience yet, or simply not that many people have seen or even heard of it.

Blade Runner is cinematic perfection. Anyone who thinks otherwise deserves to be eye-gouged ala Eldon Tyrell.

1] I like the movie a lot

2] I don't agree at all with your assessment

3] I think that's a little extreme...

This right here.

As I've said in the past "overrated" is something people throw out there when they simply don't like a movie that is popular. In most cases the praise of those movies is earned.

If someone dislikes a movie that gets major praise they simply don't like it, overrated is a lazy copout.

I miss the days when this thread wasn't used for attention seeking, shock value, and perhaps the mildest of trolling. Somehow, the attraction has become the thread itself instead of the films it's supposed to discuss. Ah well, I suppose it's rather ironic (from a film perspective) that Parts I and II were strong while Part III is a shadow of its former selves.

I agree... these threads are rolling with the same plan for movie sequels--- it's gotta be bigger and better... but ends up overdoing it!

I don't know who Eldon Tyrell is and I don't care, but go ahead and gouge my eyes out. While I like Blade Runner I don't think it is cinematic perfection. In fact, I find it rather odd, sluggish, and not the greatest film made. Also, there are 10 movies I like more than Blade Runner (actually more than 10, as it wouldn't make my top 50). For future reference and possibly further mind-blowing here is my top ten:

1. Star Wars (The whole shebang. And by whole shebang I mean every movie made. Though Empire Strikes Back is my favorite.)
2. The Perks of Being a Wallflower
3. Tron
4. X-Men (the first three movies specifically, with X2: X-Men United being my favorite).
5. The Black Cauldron
6. Spider-Man (the first three movies specifically)
7. The Matrix trilogy
8. The Lord of the Rings
9. The X-Files: Fight the Future
10. Speed 2: Cruise Control

Reading that someone likes the Matrix Trilogy more than Blade Runner just made me dry heave.

You've cheated by listing several trilogies!
