27. Elvis 1979

This is a pretty good biopic that originally aired as a Tv movie. It's not as polished as the 2022 film but still entertains enough to keep me interested. This was Directed by John Carpenter shortly after his success with Halloween. I am a big Elvis fan and will think about buying this on Blu.

Aftersun (first-time viewing)

A truly beautiful film about how childhood memories change and gain more resonance and clarity when we grow up. Paul Mescal is fantastic in this, and his chemistry with Frankie Corio makes everything ten times better. Can't wait to revisit this again and again.

How about a Vincent Price double feature? I love all the films in the Shout Factory Collections and this might be the best of his Edgar Allan Poe adaptation collaborations with Roger Corman.

29. The Oblong Box

I added this to my Blu-ray collection last month and wanted to give it another watch before putting it away. Great performance from Vincent Price as always and cool to see favorite Christopher Lee. This is the only film featuring Lee and Price together.

Chicago Confidential ⭐⭐⭐½

The Phenix City Story ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Phenix City, Alabama once had the nickname 'Sin City, USA' for it's reputation of prostitution, gambling, organized crime, and corrupt government; there was no shortage of customers from Fort Benning, Georgia just across the river. This film tells the tale of debauchery and reform efforts through live action and interviews of actual citizens. It's pretty brutal for the time, 1955, with beatings of kids and women, blood, and plenty of other violence.

Kramer vs. Kramer (1979) - 1/2

Beautiful film. A little bit soured knowing that Dustin Hoffman wasn't particularly nice to Meryl Streep during filming (to put it lightly), but his performance is incredible.

Driving Miss Daisy (1989) -

Awful stuff. So dull, sappy with no real heart to it. Laughable Best Picture winner.
