(I wont do strict chronology from 1900-1929, but ca. 10 feature films worth.)
Jeanne d'Arc (France, 1900) ![]() Originally 15 minutes long, only 12,5 minutes are preserved. You have to know the story to understand what is going on, but I guess the audience at the time would have. It is hand colorized, and there are some nice effects. Also it shows a siege, and the final moment is done well. Uncle Josh at the Moving Picture Show (USA, 1902) ![]() A 2 minute short about a country bumpkin who believes what he sees on the screen is real. Is this were the idea about people believing the trains in films were going to hit them came from? Life of an American Fireman (USA, 1903) ![]() They're editing now, baby! They show both the firemen on the outside and the inside of the apartment with the fire. Most of the runtime of six minutes is spent on showing the fire trucks on the road. |

L'inferno (Italy, 1911)
![]() The first feature-length film I saw in the 30-years challenge. It is an adaptation of Dante's Inferno (which is also the English title). Its strength is in the creation of Hell, and there is some great scenography and effects. It should really be seen. HOWEVER, it also gets kinda boring. |

![]() Rosaline (first-time viewing)
![]() As a Kaitlyn Dever fan and a Shakespeare buff, I was glad to have the chance to watch this one. She's fantastic in it, and it harkens back to the great Shakespeare teen modernizations of the 90s and 00s. I found myself chuckling quite a bit watching this. Thanks for the recommendation cinemaphile! 3.5/5 |

![]() Decision to Leave (first-time viewing)
![]() What a fantastic film. I think I'm going to slot this into my Noirvember stuff as it has several markings of the genre. All the performances here were great, but Tang Wei is the standout. What a stunner. I'm so happy that I got to see this on the big screen, and I can't wait to revisit this again. 4.5/5 |

![]() ![]() 1995 - Friday 3 /5 Wasn't as amazing I had remembered but still was well worth watching! ![]() 2022 Films The Good Nurse - 2.5 / 5 I was left pretty disapointed with this one, maybe I just expected to much? The movie really drags the first 2 acts, the ending was good though. We never really get to know the killer, and that's kind of the reality of this story but it just didn't lend well to a feature length film. Having watched the documentary they also left out a lot of key details that could have made it better! |

![]() ![]() One Minute to Zero ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (1952) I don't think Robert Mitchum ever wore a hat of any kind square on his head. Steel pot, garrison cap, combination cover, fedora, or ball cap...all cocked to one side as if advertising 'this guy is not to be trifled with' ![]() |

Cabiria (1914)
![]() The first epic movie, the first to really use cameras on dolly. There are some were cool scenes, like the shrine to Moloch, Hannibal in the Alps and when Archimedes set fire to the the Roman fleet. I would have liked a better score than just a piano, though. And the film lost me towards the end. |
