How old is too old to watch movies and TV? How old is too old to listen to music? How old is too old to read fiction? IMO those questions are just as absurd as asking how old is too old to play videogames.

In the case of video games, age is just a number. You're never too old for video games. Considering the average age of a gamer (over 2.5 billion gamers) is 35 definitely not. There is no age too old to play games.

I'm dating myself, but I remember joining a clan in my mid 20s when the Jedi Academy games released. The oldest players in the clan were late teens/college, and I actually got laughed at by a couple of players that I was still playing video games. All I could think was, do you guys actually believe you won't be playing games 5-6 years from now when you reach the same age?

I've been gaming since grade school, and I don't think there was ever a point in my life that I ever thought that I'd stop. But I think it's only a problem if you can't control a gaming addiction. I've always made time for family and other hobbies outside of gaming (particularly physical activity and outdoorsy stuff), and IMO that's really what matters.

I know lots of guys in their 30s who (still) play video games, still eat their favorite childhood cereal, still watch favorite childhood cartoons, collect toys and comic books.

Decades ago one would have said "dude, let it go and grow up" but times have changed, and doing all that stuff now seems to be a 'normal' thing to do for grown men.

Each to their own I guess.

I'm looking forward to reading about the oldest gamer alive. I say in 10 - 15yrs we may see an articles showing old dudes in their late 60' or early 70's still gaming.

I plan on being in one of those articles.

Just don't tell any potential women you date that you play games. It's the kiss of death. Not as much so for the younger generation. I'm almost 40 though. Too old to be dating 20 year olds. Another kiss of death for me is telling women that I create games, even clarifying that it's for money. That seems to make them run for the hills too. Yet, these women will binge watch garbage like Friends for hours on end and see nothing wrong with it. At least gaming takes skill. I'm sure they would run from all the money if the games I make sell well. Started deving about a year ago.

As for age, you're never too old. Seeing as how there's many more games these days aimed at adults.

i'll be 39 this year and don't have any plans to quit gaming.

I've lost a step or 2 when it comes to online matches (Destiny Crucible) but i still hold my own and even finish w/the most kills from time to time.

I lost a girlfriend to X-Wing, and another to Tomb Raider back in the day lol.

I still remember pretty well one of them called, I wouldn't pick up cause I'm stupid like that and kept on gaming, and she left a message along the lines of, "I know you're there. I bet you're playing that stupid game! We're done!" *click* Never heard from her again lol.

Never too old imo. Im 54 and have been gaming since the days of Intellivision and Commodore 64. I currently have an Xbox One and PS4 with many games covering many genres. An earlier poster here said time to play decreases as you get older and have more responsibilities like family/job etc. and that has certainly been my experience. Im soon to be retiring after 34 years in the national security business and plan on playing more once that happens as I will hopefully have more time to do so. Maybe its in the genes. My dad, who recently passed away suddenly at the age of 80, was playing games right up until the end, first on an PS3 until we bought him a PS4 a few years ago. His passion was EA Sports games (especially the NHL series). It brought him many years of joy and kept his hand/eye coordination sharp, so we always encouraged it. If gaming makes you happy, then theres no reason why age would be a factor.
