I've found the general public to be pretty much shite wherever I go. I think the reason Walmart attracts so many of "those people" is because Walmart has a massive amount of stores. According to Wikipedia, as of January 31, 2021, there were 3,570 Walmart Supercenters, 686 Walmart Neighborhood Markets, and 374 Walmart discount stores in the U.S. while Target operated 239 Super Target locations as of September 2015 and a total of 1,904 stores (Target and Super Target combined) in 2020.

I've been in one Super Target and I loved it, but it's 114 miles (1 hr 46 min) from my home so obviously, I don't go often. It's a shame there are so few Super Targets. The one near me is located at 16300 Southwest Fwy, Sugar Land, TX 77479.

Nearly forgot about that. It was kind of weird to be walking around a mall after midnight and some store owners were awkwardly "watching" their property despite not even being open.

To a degree, yes. Back when I was a street sweeper for Walmart back in the end of 2018 I'd always be looking for steels and they had those glorious retro VHS slipcover blu rays, not to mention perusing the media section in general had a very peaceful and almost meditative quality to it (mostly at midnight, sometimes 1-2 AM). Oddly enough I got a job at one of Wal-Mart's distribution centers the following year and with that same one being along I-25 on my way home I liked to continue the stop every week (versus every night with the sweeper job). Last time I stopped there at night was when Ford vs. Ferrari came out and I managed to nick a copy, but the quality of their media section was slipping and eventually became what it is now.

When I worked nights and my sleep cycle was messed up, I would wake up at 2-3 AM on my off days and go to Walmart and dig in the $3 DVD bin without being bothered. Blind bought a few gems.

Surprisingly, NYC is the city that never sleeps, yet we don't have many 24 hour stores here, even before the pandemic. And that's odd because NYC is literally always busy. Most stores close around 7-8pm, which was frustrating because I couldn't really stop by stores after work.

The only stores that are open late are supermarkets and the only ones open 24 hours are select drug stores.
