Default Do you have a "dream" job?

Maybe your comfortable in the position you are in which is fantastic but let's face it most of us aren't that fortunate. Is there. Job out there that you wish you had, something you'd consider a "dream job"?

Yes, for the most part, the one I have now is exactly what I like to do.
But for more money, I wouldn't mind working at one of the mines in the oil sands up north. The job itself is okay, I did it before, but the money was pretty damn good.
[Show spoiler](A close second would be being Brie Larsen's personal masseuse)

Something I can do from home and that I enjoy doing. It would have to relate to my interests because that's about all I enjoy lol.

Heck yea. I was unemployed back from July 2012 through December 2013. I was completely burned out from work and after being laid off I decided to just be a leech on society and not bother looking for a job.

Collected unemployment and just did whatever I wanted. Since I was living at home I didn't have to pay rent and had almost zero expenses so I had $380 a week to do nothing.

This was also around the time of a small recession so New York kept extending unemployment benefits. Good times.

When I was 17 I enlisted in the Army. Twenty five years later at age 42 I retired with full benefits (retirement income, GI Bill benefits and free medical care for life.). I invested in income properties (residential and commercial) which provide me with a very handsome income with little effort on my part to maintain. My lawyer handles the legalities and any maintenance or repairs are performed by my property manager.

Ultimate dream would be to write for Doctor Who. Otherwise, director/writer or even just film critic at the minimum.

I want to be the bloke at Disney World with the scoop, just walking around, sweeping up rubbish. Bliss.

My dream job will be any job that meets the following criteria:

-Pays at least $100K salary
-Hours are 9-5, little to no overtime
-Good co-workers and managers
-4 weeks vacation with personal days. Can be taken any time during the year and not just during off-peak times. And no one should be allowed to contact me during my days off.

So far, I have yet to find something that meets all those criteria, so that's why I've hated every job I've had.

I'd say still being a case worker of some kind, preferably the kind that helps kids and families get out of bad situations.

And this is why I want a job with the criteria listed in my last post. I can't take a trip to Disney World with the current job I have. Not only do I not make enough to afford to go, but I need to take a long period of time off to be able to go. And I can never take off long enough because it's always busy at my damn job so I can only take my days in bits and pieces. And now that we are in a pandemic that seems to have no end in sight, then it doesn't look like I'll ever get to go. FML.

When I was a little kid, I wanted to be a concert pianist and begged my parents for lessons. They always refused, though. I still want to be a concert pianist, but it's not one of things you can ever hope to become unless you study it from an early age. Of course, my hands are now crippled by my palmar fibromatosis, so I wouldn't be able to play anyway.

Ever since I was a kid, I always fancied being a filmmaker. I still think it'd be an awesome experience, creatively and otherwise. At this point though, I can't help but to see the biz as unapproachable, if not undesirable. Every time I hear some behind-the-scenes drama and abuse, I'm grateful I don't have to deal with some of the stuff that goes on in Hollywood. Could probably make an indie film some day.

A more realistic dream job would be a novelist. Any ideas I have for a movie can translate to the written word just fine, it just took me way too long to figure out the best way prose can be written. I have probably 20 or so crappy manuscripts in my folders and a few that are commercially viable--it's just a matter of rewriting them to perfection and getting noticed through the slush pile.

Even if I manage to traditionally publish a book, I don't know if I'd want to do it full-time. It takes 6 - 10 books a year for a novelist to make enough money to live, and I think it could suck the joy out of it. For me, I figure that it's better as a side gig.
