I would never blind buy. You pay for something you like, not for something that maybe you'll like or maybe not.

It works like this: I see a good movie at the cinema, I decide if I like it enough then I purchase it. Even the Pixars which so far I always loved, I must see first on the big screen.

I blind buy all the time ! I haven't seen A movie in A theater in atleast 15 years .
I bought 6 Blu's this week & 5 were blinds ! Seen 3 so far & they were good flicks .
I guess for me allot has to do with who is in the movie & what type of movie it is . That is how I decide if I want to buy it or not !

I blind buy a lot of Criterion releases.... but now that I only buy them on Blu-ray, I've seen most, so they're not blind-buys anymore (yet)

I rarely blind-buy other titles, but it does happen, but usually if I have a really good idea about the movie, and it looks like "my type" of film I guess.... whether it be based on the director/actors etc... For instance.... I never watched Blackhawk Down in the theaters and didn't rent it.... but it looked like the type of film I'd like, so I blind-bought it... same with Shindler's list way back when on DVD..... just so much surrounding the film itself, I knew it was a "must own"

I bought BLADE RUNNER as a blind buy......MISTAKE
I bought BARAKA as a blind buy ....WINNER.

Blind buys are hit and miss and I thereby only do so occasionally.

I voted for 'Occasionally, if I have heard good things'. I usually do a little research for a movie I'm interested in. Like check its rotten tomatoes or metacritic score, read some reviews from film critics I like, word of mouth from friends, blu-ray review scores from this site and so on. And usually when I finally see the movie, I'm satisfied. But its not fullproof, the odd dud makes it through.

I would blind buy every so often providing that the reviews are good and it would be something that I am interested in,for instance Let The Right One In would be my next blind buy.

I am buying this movie, but only for the wife.....
Well my wife is the one is going to pay for this movie

all the time. I don't rent and seldom go to theatres, so most new movies are blind buys.

I never saw it before..and I was like really disappointed. Maybe because of all the hype surrounding it, but it bored the hell out of me. I really didn't get into movies until the Blu-ray format came along and that's the God's honest truth. I posted something like that in another thread last week I think. I was never a movie fan before, unlike most.

I really tried to like it and I wanted to, because I think Harrison Ford is a great actor, but ....nothing. Sorry my friend!

i admit i saw it a few years ago and i too couldn't get into it. but i watched it again about a year ago and was blown away by it (same thing happened with 2001). it was like i was watching a completely different movie. give it another try if you feel up to it

I'll try it again one day....for sure. Right now I'm going through a Concert BD phase, which is my first and primary passion on Blu-ray!

going to the theaters feels like such a waste of money... not before blu-ray but it sure does now

I have to really trust the actors or hear a lot of good reviews... it also has to be something I like (No Reservations has Aaron Eckhart but it's about cooking, eh)
