I've got Amadeus: Director's Cut in MA. I'm guessing it was MA for a short period and then Movies Anywhere took away MA rights, they did the same thing with True Romance and One Flew Under the Cuckoo's Nest. Vudu in this case would be inaccurate since the movie doesn't actually go into Movies Anywhere any more. It went MA on Vudu on 7/12/18 and looks like it was removed on 1/1/19.

I have had the Directorís cut in my Vudu library since 2015. I donít know if it made it to my MA account and then was removed or it never transferred to MA.

I've been looking to get Amadeus for a long time (probably close to a year now and I've always known it to be not MA. Not sure that helps solve the mystery.

Maybe if I M2D'd it, It'd still port somehow?

I've never had them permanently remove anything from MA. It might not have gone over if you didn't unlink and re-link your account to Vudu. Sometimes things that change status like that don't automatically go over without a re-link.

I can tell you that MA will most likely not retroactively add it, tried to get them to get my True Romance working in iTunes and they said since it isn't MA currently there's nothing they can do.

Yes, I did check the list (by searching the name and the number) and they are only shown as DVD on the list (at this time - right before posting).
did anyone have luck with Holiday Inn working? i tried my copy, but it registers as a DVD so i tried this code and it didn't work

Is there any connection between One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest, True Romance, and Amadeus that explains why they are no longer MA eligible?

At the beginning of the year a bunch of titles lost eligibility for streaming on services, etc. I think it's just that contracts end up being time limited so suddenly vendor or studio loses the right to sell a title. Regarding MA, my understanding is that MA is usually per studio not necessarily per title so nearly all Warner Brothers (using WB as a hypothetical) releases are MA (probably there are exceptions). One factor could be if Warner Brothers is sub-licensing a title and they lose publishing rights which go back to an individual, or another company, and new distribution terms need to be worked out.

These may be the first titles we see lose MA status, I suppose they stay in your MA connected libraries at iTunes, Vudu, etc for pre-existing purchases but not available to be added - right?

Regarding MA, my understanding is that MA is usually per studio not necessarily per title so nearly all Warner Brothers (using WB as a hypothetical) releases are MA (probably there are exceptions, link how Sony publishes Fantastic Woman but it's not MA). One factor is if Warner Brothers is licenses a title from the owner for a time and then loses publishing rights which go back to an individual, or another company, and new distribution terms need to be worked out. Also sometimes a studio has physical release rights but not streaming rights. For example, True Romance was released by WB in 2009 and Sony in 2018 on disc - so it's likely that title has been temporarily licensed to those studios for distribution rather than owned by them and rights reverted back to owner.

These may be the first titles we see lose MA status, I suppose they stay in your MA connected libraries at iTunes, Vudu, etc for pre-existing purchases but not available to be added - right? I still have One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest and Amadeus (Director's Cut) in my MA transaction history (from Vudu M2D).

Edit: FWIW Titles I own like Amadeus or One Flew still show up by search with option to play within MA even if seemingly delisted.

So, these titles should be MA when they are available for purchase again?

If it's a MA affiliated studio that the rights land with.

I also noticed the theatrical cut, though SD only, appears to be gone entirely on Vudu.

Not worth $1. His newer movies are nothing like his older stuff. My parents were a huge fan (LOL) but they tell me not to M2D them any of his newer stuff. LOL.

Amadeus (Director's Cut) info:

I ended out the year randomly adding MD2D titles from my shelf, one of which was the Amadeus Director's Cut. So, for what it's worth - I added it on Dec 27, 2018 via MD2D, MA and UV were both listed, and it is currently in my MA library and available to watch via that service.

Don't know if that is helpful at all, but just in case...

Probably a rights thing. I believe Cuckoo's Nest and Amadeus are both owned by the Saul Zaentz Company and True Romance is a Morgan Creek title. I don't think the studios really own those films outright, they just kinda float around depending on whatever distribution deal is in play.

Fox and Universal, definitely grant no UV rights -- not for conversions or for any means of acquisition (i.e. digital purchases or even UV code redemptions). But is the same true for Lionsgate? I understand Lionsgate has snuffed UV eligibility for new releases, but a quick scan of Lionsgate titles available on VUDU shows most still have UV eligibility ... and so UV rights *would* be granted following a D2D/M2D conversion.

For example, I converted 'Red State' just after Christmas and it shows I have UV rights.

Many Lionsgate titles are still UV. But they've stopped it on their new releases, which started around May or so.

Pretty much what Fox and Universal did, stopped doing UV on new releases. Then eventually they removed UV from all titles, be prepared.

I'm going to be adding a section for the non working titles. It will list known UPCs, in case other members want to randomly scan them and see if they ever start working.

I still see One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest in my Movies Anywhere account. Amadeus never disappeared from my Itunes account so I downloaded it in case it disappears.

Edit. Amadeus (Director's Cut) still appears in my Movies Anywhere account also.

One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest, True Romance (DC), and Amadeus (DC), all are not in my MA account. They only show UV on VUDU.

That is strange. True Romance disappeared from mine, but the other 2 are still showing up when I search MA and they show I own them. Regular Amadeus (non DC) is in my Vudu account only (SD).

Amadeus (DC) and One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest still have an MA symbol in Vudu for me as well.
