How to decode Region 1 Blu ray player to work in other regions. - Blu-ray Forum

Hi everybody.

I have a Sony Blu Ray Player brought in USA- Region 1, It can only play Region 1 discs. I wonder if there is a way to decode it and make it play UK discs. Can anyone help me please.

If you do a search on 'region free' on this forum, you'll find that Blu-ray players like yours need a hardware-modification chip to make them region-free for DVD's and zone-free for Blu-ray discs.

To do this, you can order a modification-chip here: www.BluRayMods.com and ask them for a chip for your specific model (older models maybe not on their website anymore, but probably still available); good luck!

I have a Sony Blu ray 550, but it is a Region B player, so can only play Region B or Region Free Discs from Region A.

This is exciting news.
