There's a good chance I'll be buying the 2TB version of this. I'm planning to buy a UHD player in the near future, and I've wanted to buy a relatively affordable system for several years for some casual gaming, and this satisfies both needs.

Hmmmmmm...

I've been a PS fan for a while, but I was eyeballing the XBox for their exclusives (Halo franchise and such). UHD playback and the price might sway be into finally getting it.

So we can confirm that it will play UHD Blu-rays? The wording on the ad makes it sound like it will have 4K Netflix or some sort of streaming option.

But this is a good option for those who are looking to buy a 4k blu ray player now while also providing a cheaper option that does way more.

I am just concerned that it doesn't play UHD Blu-rays but just has 4K output on streaming services such as Netflix. The ad isn't that specific.

That is rather cheap for a player, as long as it's good

I'll get the 500gb for 250 as a cheap UHD player. Unless SOny have something up their sleeves later tonight, which is unlikely.

That Scorpio is a big factor though. 250 now and another 400+ 12 months from August. Have to find a way to justify this to the other half

I honestly thought Sony would be first to market with a UHD player/console. I did always think it would be priced a lot less than a stand alone though, these things are rarely sold at a profit unlike stand alone hardware, so there will always be more room for affordable prices in consoles, at least this early on.

Link to dvdmike's post in another thread. Picture from Xbox's official youtube channel. Look at the writing below the youtube video. It says "Watch UHD blu-ray movies in stunning 4K Ultra HD".
