Default Which is the better pick: Sony UBPX700 for $129.99 or LG UBK80 for $99.99?

Both are on sale at Target today as part of their Black Friday preview.

If you need Dolby Vision support then the Sony is a better option since that LG model is just HDR10 only (only the UBK90 model has both HDR10 and DV) & while a decent player it's also bare bones at best too.

If you have a DV tv then go with the Sony. If not, then go with the LG. Itís really that simple lol

Go with the X700 regardless. You may not need DV, but having it for the future is great

While I donít have a dog in this fight, Iíd say go with the Sony. Iíve never had an issue with either of my BD players and plan to go with them once I upgrade to a 4K player despite not having DV on my current flatscreen.

You can get Sony x800 player. Dosent have DV so it will be cheaper than their other players. Save you some $$$

Exclusive features on the Sony that LG does not offer is Dolby Vision HDR and the ability to playback SACD's. Also Sony and Panasonic are known for their reliable and timely firmware updates.

The Sony is worth the extra $30.

Eh, Iíve got bigger fish to fry. Right now Iím wondering if I can get Internet where Iím moving. Once I work out my monthly budget Iíll look into it and eventually my equipment. Right now I need to find a bed. So thatís where my focus

The early LG 4k players were notorious for vibrating cases but I think they pretty much solved it. Either one would work great unless you need DV. In that case, Sony wins.

The Amazon and Best Buy listings say the UBK80 has Dolby vision. Is that not true?

Edit: So does the LG site

Only the UBK90 model has Dolby Vision, the UBK80 is a cheaper lower end model without Dolby Vision (just HDR10 only), a HDMI audio-only port, and no Netflix nor Youtube.
