The OG movies flipped the week before the physicals if I remember rightly. So this week might well be the week. They could change at any moment, but you can be sure one of us will let the thread know once we spot it.

Old news, but Rocky II-IV are 4K in the AU store but V is still HD.

National Lampoon’s Vacation coming to 4K UHD on June 27th. So we can anticipate it flipping to 4K DV around that time.

Kino Lorber released it and it's an MGM title. Not sure how many MGM titles which Kino Lorber has released which end up in 4K on iTunes. I don't think the probability is likely. I hope I'm wrong.

Question... I purchased House of Gucci in 4k when it came out, but now it is showing as HD. Originally it fell out of the 4k section on my Apple TV app, but showed as 4k on iTunes store. Now it is showing HD on both. Anyone else have this issue or know why it reverted to HD?

this happens often, they are updating/fixing something, when they are done it will return to 4K.

I think only the Rocky movies have been upgraded since Amazon bought MGM. Having said that, Amazon has released some of their originals to digital. Hopefully Amazon realizes there is a market for digital.

Not sure why anyone would have expected The Magnificent Seven to upgrade. It’s a Shout! Factory release - not from the studio itself.

Universal did upgrade They Live, so anything is possible. The reality is that most of the scanning and restoration work is done by the studios, the 3rd party may tweak it a little but at no point did MGM send Shout Factory the negative and let them do the work, so nothing is stopping them from upgrading it digitally except the will to do so. Paramount is farming out 4K titles to Kino and upgrading them digitally as they go along.

There may well be contractual reasons, such as the licensee paying a higher price to get an exclusive window before the studio puts it out themselves on digital.
