I couldn't play handheld without the Hori Split pad Pro's.

They're markedly better but I'm still fumbling with the controls a LOT. Which I also did in BotW. I may have to just play this on the tv with the Pro controller and since my tv time is extremely limited these days that'll take me about a decade.

Finally have my game hours appear. 51 hours as of now. Honestly, felt like it’s been half that. I get so lost in it.

How long did it take you? And did you do a lot of side stuff too (even though there's a lot left) or mostly just the main story?

I want to play this but I'm really just not up for a 100 hour game right now.

You can apparently burn through the main story in like 55 hours. However, that is not how the game is meant to be played. You're meant to explore and do some side stuff. That type of playthrough takes about 80 hours+. I have no idea how long it would take to 100% this game

I rolled credits at right around 100 hours, but that included maxing out my armor, getting all the memories, 120 or so shrines, about 1/3 of the points of interest in the underground, exploring all sky islands and about 90 side quests.

Heads up that there’s a new patch that removes the duping exploit. If you still intend to use it, hopefully you didn’t have the game closed with auto updates on.

I figured that was coming. Luckily I turned off auto-updates.

I have a set of those. They are pretty good. Though I've mainly been using one of the grips from Satisfye. I personally like it better overall, though the split pad is not a bad option.

People who use or used the dupe glitch…why? If you can get infinite supplies, that takes out the fun to me. Part of the fun of the game is finding supplies and being creative with them. If you can just duplicate everything…what’s the point?

These people are similar the the people saying ‘the frame rate is unplayable’. Their not gamers.

Who said anything about wanting infinite supplies? Some of the items are so rare that the grind to get just one more of it would take literally hours and it still might not appear. I’d rather be exploring the game instead of wasting days and hours changing the game time to night on the small chance a star fragment appears.

There’s also people duping to have a sandbox to see how creative they can be with making giant robots, ships, etc. The game encourages you to be creative and that’s what people are doing. You still have to get at least one of the item in order to do the dupe, you’re just taking out some of the grind. If this was a multiplayer game and people were having an unfair advantage, I’d be right with you, but as it stands there’s no reason for anyone being upset about how people play a single player game that most of them spent their own money on.

Probably sell it as dlc.

I have been climbing in the sky in a blizzard for what seems like an hour. I have no idea what awaits me but it sure sounds like Gleeok/Aquamentis (cant remember which) breathing. Hope I'm not doing all this only to get stomped.

Finished up all the shrines and lightroots last night. Interesting reward for finding all the shrines.

I don't remember hating the combat in BotW but boy are we not getting along at all in this one. The "dodge" seems waaaaaaaay too short of a hop and is usually useless. Then people would say "well parry." And I would if most anything of note didn't kill you in one hit. I steer clear of Souls games because of mechanics like this. Is there something I'm just not picking up on?

Be creative. If you aren’t good at the combat find other ways to battle enemies that don’t involve so much engagement.

Backflips and well timed side hops are ideal, flurry rushes let you get in a ton of hits. You can also hang back and shoot/throw elemental items instead of melee. Dazzle Fruits are your friend for blinding enemies to drop their defenses. Alternatively, always have your shield up to take the hit; this is not a game where you can just whale on enemies until they die until you have higher stats because if you don’t stagger them they will wreck you.

Also, you need to get your armor up from Lv 0 at the Great Fairies for it to be worth anything. Once you start leveling up armor the damage comes WAY down.

Great info. Thanks both of you. I finished the Wind Temple with three hearts. I actually climbed all the way up before I went to the Rito village. Been putting all the dazzle stones into getting a stamina ring completed before I get hearts. I've been using bows A LOT or just avoiding enemies for now.

Saw a clip online where somebody made a vehicle with front crushers. Had a U-shaped front and they just funneled enemies into it and squished them.

I think that if you are going to put crouch in your action game and assign it to L3 then you absolutely must make that crouch very functional in combat, because it's much too easy to click the stick down by accident when you are fighting or trying to escape. Didn't used to have this problem as much. Maybe it's my age. Still...

I've been doing it waaaaaaay to much as well. I hate when stuff is assigned to thumbstick clicks. I also wish you could remap controls. The two setups they have I feel I'm always wrestling with.
