Yeah, that sounds pretty much identical to the info/deal Right Stuf has put out, aside from the Reconguista acquirement.

Will be interesting to see what AL do with Turn A. DVD-only like RS or going their own way with a BD release.

Maybe I should hold off watching my DVDs until we know...

A BD might be entirely possible since Anime Ltd. would just lock it for region B.

The DVDs look pretty good, I'm pleased with the quality of them so far.

They're fine, but they'll look like trash compared to a Blu-ray release.

Of course, but I think a blu release is unlikely unless the original MSG sells well enough.

I'd hope that we hear a little more about their Gundam plans at either MCM Scotland Comic Con in September, or Scotland Loves Anime or MCM London Comic Con in October.

Call me names as a non-fan or whatever, but I haven't seen the original MSG in its TV iteration. However, I am quite fond of the MSG movie trilogy. And I have to be honest, I'm not interested in buying TV MSG on Blu-ray.

I, too, hope that TV MSG sells well. I hope it causes them to release the MSG movie trilogy. But most of all I would love to get BDs of MS IGLOO/2, 08th MS Team, War in the Pocket, Stardust Memory, Zeta, Double Zeta, Char's Counterattack, F91, and Victory (and G-Saviour ).

Am I dreaming? Definitely.

You're changing the subject now

I'm not saying I'll wait around for years, but I think it prudent to wait and see what happens.

Based on recent AL comments I'd put money on them doing a DVD-only release of Turn A.

Their release date of MSG is dependent on the US date and the on-disc content will be exactly the same as the US release.

From the sounds of it I can't see AL doing anything differently to what RS do now. They appear to be less independent than we perhaps originally thought.

The Italian version is in a similar price range and comes with more special features and fancy packaging. The first part comes with a 100 page booklet and the second part comes with a 150 page booklet and a replica of the storyboard for episode 1.

I have Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, Seed, and MS Unit, DVD boxsets that look as good as Bluray. It would have to be shot in digital to be bluray beneficial.

The US Gundam part 1 set will have two discs:

The UK Gundam part 1 will have three discs according to Amazon UK and Zavvi.

Anime on film benefit a lot from a Blu-ray release. The US Bandai Entertainment release and the first EU Beez Gundam Wing DVD release don't look anywhere near as good as Blu-ray. Almost look like VHS. And while Beez released a DVD set in 2008 of Gundam Wing sourced from the HD restoration later used for the Japanese Blu-ray set in 2013, the DVD's still suffer from noticeable compression issues. A Blu-ray release would fix many of those issues.

You don't have any DVDs that look as good as Blu-ray. As far as what you write in your last sentence, you could not be more wrong.

Upscaling SD on-the-fly looks horrible compared to a proper, pre-authoring upscale, like all Blu-rays based on SD content get.

And this isn't SD content.
