People want to watch movies at the cinema imo but the rising costs of the concessions and price tickets are probably the biggest reason most don't go often enough, but the rubber band theory seems to be at play because clearly the overall level of tickets sold each year bar the pandemic are similar enough to keep them doing this.
I posted an article about this in the Move Theater thread. While AMC and Regal went after more spaces, Cinemark decided to renovate. The rubber band broke for both AMC and Regal.

Doing anything recreational isn't a "necessity" but that wasn't my point. Yeah there's subscription models but that's not what i was referring to either but the general cost of tickets at regular cinemas and the crappy projectors and screens they never bothered to upgrade. So my point is that jot every cinema screens a top of the line premium theatre experience. Some are stuck decades back.

I noticed a couple more VFX errors. One happens when Lo'ak returns to the village after first meeting Payakan. He jumps out of the canoe and the physics of his braid glitch out. It snaps upwards as if he'd jumped with way more force than he actually did.

Also, during the "I see you" scene with Lo'ak and Tsireya, her hair goes from dry and puffy to wet, flat and long. As if they switched to her wet model halfway through the scene.

Literally unwatchable.

Saw Avatar 2 in Dolby Cinema 3D with HFR for my 6th and final time. What a magical experience. The computer generated effects are so photo realistic, along with flawless 3D, that it all seems to look better and more real than the actual real world. I never experienced this before.

You know, there are a lot of movies that have "movie mistakes" in them. Not always on the VFX side of things, it could be a case of stitching takes together and something in the environment has moved without interaction or a character is in a slightly different position than in the next shot.

If you're going to hold petty things like that against the overall movie to the point it prevents you from watching them then you'll find that you are the architect of your own misery, missing out on some fantastic films because of human error.

You'll probably find the most simple of movie mistakes in some of your favorite movies, so at least be consistent, diverse and fair and deliver the same consequence to those movies by not watching those anymore either.

I'm genuinely concerned about some people's lack of understanding of sarcasm.

I know the blatant Avatar hate from Marvel fans has conditioned some of you to go for the throat at the slightest criticism, but stop for a moment and read between the lines. From my comment you can tell that I have watched the film more than once, which means I enjoyed it, and I know character names and situations. If I were some crazed superhero fan, the comment would be about "blue monkeys" and "nO cUlTuRaL iMpAct". Do better.

You certainly do have some, uh, opinions but even I knew that was a joke at the end.

Guess that's what happens when Navi ladies are...you know...aroused. They mate with their hair from what I can tell so...

a lot of people saying prices are high and theatres haven’t upgraded. but they were also closed with zero revenue for a period of time. so i like, i get it. but still…

but if people don’t care and. don’t even pay attention most of the time, why bother? majority of people don’t notice lights not going off or wrong aspect ratio. they’re gonna magically notice projection?

if they’re going to do anything, i would say upgrade filtration.

I’ve seen Avatar 2 six times, all in Dolby Cinema 3D HFR. During one of these showings, the movie began to play in 2D instead of 3D. Since I haven’t seen it in 2D HFR, I decided to take my 3D glasses off and watch the first several minutes of the interstellar vehicles landing on Pandora, before saying anything to the management.

I finally got up and let them know and the movie was restarted from the beginning in 3D. But during the opening of the movie, the entire audience sat there with their 3D glasses on and not one single person got up to say anything. Which leads me to believe that most people don’t have the slightest idea on what they’re watching or doing.

We are living in very strange times. I’m no longer certain that everything will end well for the human race.

Well, not literally. Seeing as you watched the movie as did thousands of others. Literally unwatchable would be the projector breaking down.

I think this means 3D makes no difference for the majority of people.
They are only seeing the movie in 3D because of the hype/ marketing, but they don't even notice the 3D.
Which is why I don't like 3D. It makes no difference!
The 3D on Avatar 2 was nice? Yes. But did it improve the movie? No. And actually, after 3 hours, I just wished it would turn to 2D and I could take off those glasses.
