I think it's pretty silly that they do 2 Blu-ray mystery boxes.
I really want to get Napping Princess, but if I go RED and the Napping Princess CE is in the other one I will be quite pissed.
What am I supposed to do? Buy both? They could at least do themed ones.

They also haven't said that they wouldn't do duplicates.
So in theory they could put 10 CEs into these boxes that were already sold separately.
I already bought 10 items. In the worst case I get duplicates.

That's precisely why they do it, tempt you into buying both. Don't hate the player, hate the game!

Yup. I said the same thing last year, when they started offering two boxes instead of one. If you can't (or aren't willing to) throw £90 into the wind, and only buy one of them, you can end up buying the "wrong" box, getting nothing you want and having stuff you did want in the one you didn't buy. It preys on people's FOMO and is punishing to those who can't blindly spend that much money at once (which at this time of year, is probably a lot of folk).

In previous years, I was perfectly happy paying £40 for their mystery box. By upping the boxes from 1 to 2, they've affected my purchases of said boxes from 1 to 0.

In previous years, the mystery boxes always had stuff that wasn't in the previous 11 days' sales. I can't imagine that'd change now.

There's a lot here that I would buy if I still had money to spend, but not much in the way of must-haves.

I just found this:

Excluding Day 1 (the Funimation Clearance sale) which is ongoing until January, between days 2-12 there will not be any repeat offers on particular products. Hope that helps. ^JG
https://blog.alltheanime.com/12-days-of-christmas-2019/

So I will take that as Funimation titles and day 1 titles may (will) be included.

Asked my Mum to order me Mind Game for the Christmas list. I may order Aoharu x Machinegun and Kiss Him Not Me! but I'm not 100% certain that I would order it at this point given the unexpectedness of these sales.

Speaking of sales, MVM starts theirs at 9am tomorrow which I believe is focused on collector's editions so stay tuned for that (Days 6 & 12 are mystery box days).

Updated estimation on what to expect for the Mystery Boxes, once the list narrows down to 10 titles then those are the estimates

Movies (5 remaining):
  • Pigtails and Other Short Stories from Production I.G
I don't buy the mystery boxes, so am really hoping that Pigtails appears in a daily sale.

If you love the English dub of Cowboy Bebop then great, enjoy it, loads of western fans do. I'm not one of them. It's called personal preference and we've all got it, but to call people elitist because they don't enjoy what you enjoy is truly ironic, because if anything is "elitist" it's that exact attitude.

Rules are pretty simple:
  • Collector's Editions from Days 1-11 won't be included in Mystery Box for Blu-rays
  • Titles released on or after April 2019 won't be included because it's recent.
  • Titles included in previous Mystery Box releases won't be included.
  • Titles need at least 500 units in stock, though in this year's offerings they may swap titles around just to get rid of the stock.
  • Parts 2+ won't be included. They may allow sequel seasons if that is their only license (for instance in previous years they offered Free! Eternal Summer and Black Butler: Book of Circus). Therefore Durarara!!x2 Shou may qualify for the slot.

They only explicitly excluded day 2-11.
This means some of day 1/Funimation sale are part of the box(es).

They haven't said that.

How do you know the remaining stock?
Also maybe they kept some of the stock for these boxes?
I have noticed that some editions were already in previous xmas sales, and sold out back then. Which means they only select a specific amount of stock for these sales here.

They haven't said that either.
Maybe they will include 2 seasons in one box?

Kino's Journey for only 4 quid, hard to say no to. Was tempted to get RE; 009 Cyborg but I watched it again recently to give it another chance and unfortunately it's a bad as my initial theatrical experience was.

Isn't it one of those early 2000s digital shows like Texhnolyze where the originals were mastered at a standard resolution? I presume that's the main reason AllTheAnime/ADV only released a DVD, and not a BR upscale.

Yes. Kino was composited at 480p. Also consider that Kino has a scanline effects composited into the image (this is intentional), and it would look terrible upscaled. If it were to be upscale, it would most likely be by Q-Tec, which would be a filtered, smeary mess with LESS detail than the DVD because thatís their MO.
