Default TCL R646 and PS5

I have no idea if anyone will have any clue what I'm talking about but I did research and have found nothing. I just got the 65 inch TCL R646. Whenever I look to play a game on my PS5 the HDR for the game will either be brighter or darker. Despite having the same exact picture settings. It seems to be a crapshoot on which way it will boot the game up. I've also noticed that when I switch from my mode to another, say vivid or sports for example, and go back to my default settings of game, it changes it to dark. I hope this isn't confusing but I'm looking for help.

I just got the same TV from the Best Buy Black Friday sale. Unfortunately my screen has some damage (there are 4 dime-sized dark spots towards the bottom of the screen - apparently it's a common issue that occurs during shipping) and I'm dreading having to exchange it due to the pain in the ass it was to get it in here in the first place.

Anyways - I haven't noticed anything like that with my PS5, but I did have to disable Dolby Vision gaming on my XBox Series X. With Dolby Vision enabled on the SX, everything was dark. Have you tried rebooting the PS5? After I got the TV setup the other day, I did have some issues at first like Dolby Vision on my Apple TV only triggering HDR10. I ended up just rebooting everything and aside from the DV/XBox Series X issue, it resolved whatever problems I was having.

Just a quick update, the latest firmware for the TCL 65R646 has corrected the Dolby Vision compatibility issue with the XBox Series X.

Apologies if this is posted in the wrong place. And I am so sorry to hear about your tv issues. I have to say this 4k era has been by far the most buggy for me personally. TV issues, 4k player issues...I had a 4k tv before this one that had terrible blooming and it would do these brief flashes. So I got this one and I love the picture quality..except I can't figure out what's up with HDR and my PS5. I did reboot everything. It just seems random on whether the picture will be brighter or darker.
