Thanks for all the Tidal info. Have you tried immersive audio on Tidal? If so, what are some of your favorites?

Normally we shy away from slice of life movies but IMHO, Living was worth the watch. Aspect is 1.5 and I'm OK with that for this type movie.

Yes I have. I love 70's Rock classics, so anything in that era is what I primarily listen to on Tidal Hi-Fi.

I saw that in theaters. I thought it was good. I haven't seen the movie it is based on yet.

I think I'll just wait till black friday. I can live with just watching it on Disney plus till a good deal comes around. I mean its kind of silly that if I want to watch it on streaming then I have to wait negative 13 days lol.

It is not the kind of movie I watch with streaming. I can easily wait for the disc.

I enjoyed Ant Man and the Wasp Quantumania last night on UHD BD. Another example of something I wouldn't bother with on streaming. The ATMOS was fun and the colors were amazing and some of the characters were great too. All said, a fun night.

My physical collection keeps right on growing. I feel like I'm just getting starting collecting movies and it's so much fun. Glad I noticed the Watchmen on UHD when it was $10 the other day. I loved the BD so I bet the UHD is great too.

I grabbed Watchmen at that price too. I remember not being too crazy about the movie originally, but loved the tv show so decided to give it another shot now that I have a little more idea of what was going on.

Has it been discussed here about some companies like Criterion/Arrow/Shout/etc. partnering with Disney to release in UHD old catalog titles (especially obscure ones) from Buena Vista/Fox? Did they stop for good releasing them?

The only Disney title released by CC was Wall-E, and all involved, including director Andrew Stanton, was that it was a one and done deal.

Is it any different than the one Disney did ? More special features ? There's no review on this site (unless I don't know where to look)

I read other reviews that say the Audio is the same and the Video has DV for those who prefer that.

I don't own the Disney version. It's a nice 4K set, though. I snagged it when Amazon had it for lower price than other retailers.

At the time folks thought it would be the beginning of a Disney/CC collaboration, but all parties came out and said it was a one-time thing.

I wouldn't mind if they changed their mind. A lot of older Disney is criterion worthy.

Instead they have partnered with Mill Creak ... which is not known so much for wonderful quality.

Chapek said they were looking into licensing stuff out again because they're losing too much money from it.
So far nobody really knows what exactly he meant by that so anything is possible.
The Mill Creek deal was from before that statement. If you can even call it a deal because there's nothing new about it. Just recycling old stuff.

Chapek is no longer a Disney executive. So whatever he said has zero credibility.

This is what Iger, who is now the CEO of Disney said:

Quote:
Disney could license more movies and TV shows to its streaming rivals as it becomes less focused on producing original content for its own streaming platforms, CEO Bob Iger said Thursday.

Honestly, I hope they do. Anything to scrape that last dollar from people would be fine with me in terms of bringing in some high quality releases licensed out to some quality boutique labels. Outside of physical media and Disney+, I do not give Disney my money. I don't care to visit the theme park, etc.

This is the Ikiru remake I've heard about. It premieres on Netflix June 5th.
